Raymond Gorcyca Obituary

Raymond "Ray" Gorcyca died peacefully at home on October 18, 2018 after a long illness. He was 67 years old. Ray is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Joyce (Pelletier) Gorcyca, and by his brother, John Gorcyca and his wife Jane of Bristol. Also left to mourn are his sister-in-law Sheila (Pelletier) Bever of Plattsburgh, New York, brother-in-law Kenneth Raymond of Bristol, and beloved foster dog Teddy. Ray was born on April 19, 1951 in New Britain, Connecticut to John and Anna (Rurka) Gorcyca. He graduated from New Britain High School in 1970. He and Joyce were married in 1977. Ray was employed for many years by RAE Battery of Berlin and considered the owner, Roy Earley, not only a boss but a friend, who helped him through many difficult times in his life. Ray was a kind and patient person, good at fixing all manner of things, and could always be counted on to lend a hand when needed. He was a big fan of professional wrestling, a dedicated recorder of family events, and a loyal friend. He was looking forward to retirement in the Adirondacks area of northern New York state a few years from now, but God had other plans. A memorial service is scheduled for November 1, 2018 at 10:00 AM at New Britain Memorial Sagarino Funeral Home, with visitation beginning at 9:30 AM. Dispersal of the cremains will take place at the convenience of the family. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Ray's life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Cancer Society. For more information or to leave an online condolence please visit www.Newbritainsagarino.com. The family would like to thank Dr. Ciccone, as well as the nurses, physicians and associate staff at UCONN Medical Center, UCONN outpatient Dialysis Center, and the Hospital of Central Connecticut New Britain for their care and dedication.

To the family of Ray Gorcyca,

I only knew Ray for a brief time during our high school years though we went to different schools.
Ray was a very nice guy, had some good times hanging around with him.

Rest in peace, Ray.
