Rena Spranzo Obituary

SPRANZO, Rena (Guerra) Rena (Guerra) Spranzo passed away on Sunday, (March 11, 2007) surrounded by her loving family and the gentle caregivers of Brittany Farms Health Center. Mrs. Spranzo's life was marked by courage, industry, and a sustaining faith in God and family. She was born in 1919 in New Britain to Leopold and Amalia (Moscatelli) Guerra who moved to Villa Polombara in the Marche region of Italy when she was three years old. She was an excellent student and learned as well the arts of dressmaking and cooking during her youth in Italy. In 1938, her parents sent her back to the United States to shield her from the war, and she became a part of the Moscatelli-Francini family prior to meeting and marrying Albert Spranzo in 1943. Together Rena and Albert raised six children and Rena put her sewing artistry to work for family and friends. She loved her extended family and dear neighbors, and was known for her excellent cooking for gatherings, parties, and neighborhood picnics. She also enjoyed her work outside the home for local dress shops and with the kitchen staff at New Britain Senior High School. She leaves her husband of 64 years, Albert, of New Britain, and is also survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Louis Spranzo, Michael and Annie Spranzo of New Britain, and Albert and Lori Spranzo of Colchester; daughters, Linda Klopp of New Britain and Lanette Macaruso of North Kingstown, RI. She also leaves two sisters in Italy, Aida Ricci and Alba Giuletti. She leaves five beloved grandchildren, Colleen Klopp, Kathrena Keller Rivera and her husband Christian, and Stephen, Patrick, and Kenneth Spranzo. She leaves also three great grandchildren, Liam, E'Lorah, and Galven Rivera. A kind thank-you goes to Justyna Kaniewski, Rena's companion and helper for the past two years. Rena was predeceased by her beloved daughter, Dr. Lorraine G. Spranzo and son-in-law, John Klopp. Family and friends are asked to meet at St. Joseph Church, 195 South Main St., New Britain to Celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 15. Entombment will be in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain, at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the Kenney-Luddy Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, New Britain, Wednesday (March 14) from 4-7 p.m. Donations in Rena's memory may be made to the Dr. Lorraine G. Spranzo Scholarship Fund, c/o The Community Foundation of Greater New Britain, 74A Vine Street, New Britain, CT 06052, or to Brittany Farms Health Center, 400 Brittany Farms Rd., New Britain, CT. 06053.

Hey Mike,
I`m so sorry about your loss.
You have our condolences. I know that you would remember me as a
mailhandler on days. Are you still on dog-time getting postcons? I really missed the fun you had with me and my foggy glasses. I`d love to hear from you and Annie.
Hope all is well & things get better for you. God bless.
