Richard H. Biel "Uncle Rich", 65, of Chaplin, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at his home. He was born on December 6, 1953 in Hartford, CT, son of the late Mieczyslaw "Mike" and Sophie (Zadziemska) Biel. Rich grew up in Hartford and was a graduate of Bulkeley High School with the Class of 1971. He went on to study at Rhode Island State College in Warwick. He worked in machine sales for Precision International Corporation in Bloomfield for 10 years, before entering the marine industry, where he worked as a service representative for Mercury Marine and later Yamaha Motor Corporation. He loved the outdoors, camping, watersports and the beach. Rich also enjoyed traveling for work and pleasure and had the opportunity to see many interesting places. He leaves his brother, George R. Biel of South Windsor; his nephew, Brian Biel and his wife Ashley of Manchester; his nieces, Michelle Biel and Colin Orlowski of Colebrook, and Andrea Biel and Angelo Elia of Andover; and his grandnieces and grandnephews, Sophia, Tristan, Ellone, and Orion. His family will receive friends on Wednesday, from 6-8 p.m., at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to National Breast Cancer Foundation. Burial will be private at the request of his family.
