D'ALESSANDRO, Richard A., DMD Richard A. D'Alessandro, DMD, 67, of Farmington, beloved husband of Sally D'Alessandro, passed away Saturday, (September 11, 2004) at the Hartford Hospital. Born in Buffalo, NY, December 9, 1936 son of the late Frank and Rita (Herman) D'Alessandro he resided in Farmington for 39 years. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School, Queens, NY, received his undergraduate degree from CW Post College on Long Island, NY and graduated from University of Pennsylvania Dental School, Class of 1965. Dr. D'Alessandro maintained a private practice in Endodontics in Farmington since 1965. Dr. D'Alessandro was also on the Senior Medical Staff in the Department of Dentistry at Hartford Hospital. He taught Endodontics in the General Dentistry program at Hartford Hospital and the University of Connecticut Dental School. He was a member of the Connecticut State Dental Society, the American Association of Endodontists, the Tri-State Endodontic society, the Connecticut Endodontic Society, the New Britain Study Club, the New Britain Dental Society and a lifetime member of the American Dental Association. Dr. D'Alessandro was a member of the Horace Wells Club Honorary Dental Society. He was a United States Navy veteran having served during the Korean War. He was an avid golfer and tennis player and did extensive volunteer work with the United States Government Indian Health Service. Besides his wife, he was the loving father of his four children, Craig R. and his wife, Consuelo D'Alessandro of Denver, CO, Todd D. and his wife, Cristina D'Alessandro of San Jose, CA, Keith G. D'Alessandro of Charlotte, NC; and his beloved daughter and her husband, Sarah C. and David May of Unionville; his brother and sister-in-law, Franklin and Susie D'Alessandro of Chicago, IL; his five cherished grandchildren, Stefan, Isabella, Mariela, Nicholas and Anthony. He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Paloma Luz D'Alessandro. Memorial services will be held Thursday, September 16, at 1 p.m. in the Meeting House at the First Church of Christ, Congregational, 75 Main Street, Farmington with the Rev. Dr. Ned W. Edwards, Jr. officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Association, Greater Hartford Chapter, 18 North Main Street, West Hartford, CT 06107 or to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 300 Research Parkway, Suite 310, Meriden, CT 06450. Arrangements being handled by The Ahern Funeral Homes, Inc.

Doctor D. was more than a Doctor to his patients. He was a caring man who put aside his own life to help others in need.
I will miss him for many things but most of all for his help over the years. He was always there for his patients with that great smile and concern for their well being.
