Richard Lamelin Obituary



Richard A. Lamelin, 81, of Stafford Springs, CT, beloved husband and best friend of Nancy (Cooper) Lamelin, died Monday, July 10, 2017 at home after a long illness. He was born at home in Coventry, RI, the son of the late Del and Frances (Plante) Lamelin. He was predeceased by his only sibling, Robert. Richard attended local schools in Rhode Island, and served honorably in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. Before retiring, he worked most of his life in the textiles as a dyer and/or finisher. He was an avid sports fan, which included the Atlanta Braves, Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, and the Boston Bruins. He loved reading and enjoyed coaching baseball in his younger years. He was a parishioner of St. Edward Church and a very dedicated fourth degree member of the Felix J. O'Neil Council #1395 Knight of Columbus. Besides his wife, Nancy, Richard leaves behind his six children and three stepchildren: Michael and Mary Jane Lamelin of Columbia, CT, Keith Lamelin of Vernon, CT, Mark and Susan Lamelin of Stafford Springs, CT, Rosemary and Michael Pagani of East Hartford, CT, Kim Lamelin of Ellington, CT, Richard P. Lamelin and his fiancé Raquel of California, Rod and Pam MacDonald of Stafford Springs, CT, Stacy and Ernie Grecula of Canton, CT, and Scott MacDonald of Vernon, CT. He also leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. His funeral will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2017, with a procession forming by 9 A.M. at Introvigne Funeral Home, Inc., 51 East Main St., Stafford Springs, CT, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. at St. Edward Church, 55 High St., Stafford Springs, CT. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Edward Cemetery, Stafford Springs, CT. Calling hours are on Wednesday from 5-8 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
