Richard LaRose Obituary

Richard Albert LaRose, 77 of Bristol, beloved husband, father, grandfather, departed from this world surrounded by his family on Monday, September 11, 2023 at the Hospital for Special Care.

Born in New Britain on October 3, 1945, he was one of three children to the late Hubert and Jeanette (Beaulieu) LaRose. Richard married the love of his life, Lorenza (Mastrobattista) in 1970, and settled in Bristol for the next 53 years where they raised their son Michael and became proud grandparents.

Throughout his working years, Richard was a devoted employee at CCSU for over 40 years and later worked in security at Tilcon for 20 years. Richard was a man who truly lived life to the fullest. With a passion for chance and excitement, he had an indomitable spirit when it came to scratch tickets and casino games. His infectious enthusiasm for sports knew no bounds, particularly when it came to the Red Sox, UCONN, and the Connecticut Sun Basketball teams.

Beyond his zest for games and sports, Richard was a dedicated family man. He and Lorenza shared their retirement years travelling, with Aruba having a special place in their hearts.  Being a proud father and grandpa was a role that brought immeasurable joy into Richard's life, and he cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren. He leaves his family with many happy memories and will be missed beyond measure.

In addition to his wife, Lorenza LaRose, Richard is survived by his son, Michael LaRose and his wife, Becky Crandall; his grandchildren, Bella, Michaela, and Megyn; his brother-in-law, Lou Mastrobattista and his wife, Betty; his brother-in-law, Andy Mastrobattista and his wife, Donna; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings, Jack LaRose and Carol LaRose.

Richard's family encourages those who are able to donate blood in efforts to help save lives to do so in Richard's memory.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 14, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 94 Broad St Plainville. Committal will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery Plainville. Family and friends may gather prior to the mass on Thursday, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad St Plainville.
