Rick Contois Obituary

Rick Anthony Contois, 58, of South Windsor, beloved husband of the late Luann Marie (Koffman) Contois died peacefully on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at home, surrounded by his family. Rick was born in Hartford, CT, on February 19, 1965, son of the late Raymond A. and Beverly H. (Adams) Contois. He grew up in South Windsor and graduated from South Windsor High School in 1983. He went on to study at TCI, graduating in 1984, and started a career as a mechanic. Rick would later work for Sam's Club as a manager for many years, until moving on to work for Anixter. Rick's passion was fishing. He, with his best friend Rob, went boating all around Connecticut in search of that one great one. He had a love for good food, gardening, puzzles and great (Beatles) music. Never far behind were his dogs Dakota and Melony and, of course, the latest Stephen King novel. He will be dearly missed. He leaves his sister, Michele Tardif and her husband Marco of East Windsor; his nieces and nephew, Kaitlyn Carey-Duclos and her husband Thomas of Wolcott, Jessica Portis and her husband Martavious of NH, and Cooper Tardif of East Windsor. He also leaves his half-sisters, Nancy Piscottano and her husband Anthony of Old Saybrook, RaeAnn Corso and her husband Charles of NC, and Karen Fortunato of Andover. His family will receive friends on Sunday, March 5, 2023, from 12 – 2 p.m., at the Samsel & Carmon Funeral Home, 419 Buckland Rd., South Windsor. A prayer service will follow in the funeral home beginning at 2 p.m. Burial will be private at the request of his family. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Stamford Museum and Nature Center, Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation, or a charity of choice. Rick was a good childhood friend. He was always there to do fun stuff when we were kids. I can remember slot cars in the basement, or going to 7/11 to play asteroids when we were 13 or 14. Later he got tired of my new hobbies, so he said goodbye.

My wife and I were shocked and saddened to hear about our friend Rick. We both worked with Rick for many years at Sam's. Starting in Manchester where he was my manager. I had a lot of fun working for him. Even more fun when Rick and I were both managers in Newington. There were many days that we were both in tears from laughing and made a special game that kept us entertained to get through the day called "Hide from Kevin"! I can hear him laughing now.
Rest in peace my friend. Our condolences and prayers to his family.

I am deeply saddened to hear of Rick´s passing. We shared a special friendship many years ago, and although we lost touch over the years, I will fondly cherish the memories we made and keep them close to my heart. I´m so very sorry to hear this. Me and Rick would talk and catch up a few times a year. We talked this past fall about his new boat and the memories of the band days. We were planning to get together and go through some old pictures he found of us as teens. I´m deeply saddened. I´ll keep his friends and family in my prayers during this difficult time.
