Rita E. Owens

1932 - 2015

Rita E. (Bellovoda) Owens, 82, of East Hartford, loving wife of over 64 years to Carlton R. Owens, went to be with Our Lord on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at the Riverside Health Care & Rehabilitation Center in East Hartford. Born in Portland, ME on August 6, 1932, she had resided in the Vernon/Manchester area for many years prior to moving to East Hartford over six years ago. Rita was a proud and devoted wife and "stay-at-home-mother" for many years before entering the workforce in several area nursing homes as a Nurse's Aide. She also worked several years at Brown Ell in Moodus. Rita loved going to the beach and was a talented craftswoman. She did volunteer work for many years at the Alzheimer's Unit in Vernon and visiting sick and "shut-in" individuals. Besides her beloved husband, Carlton, of Vernon, Rita is survived by six sons, Dennis Owens and his fiancée, Patsy, of Lewiston, ME, David Owens and his wife, Myrna, of Manchester, Robert Owens of Middletown, Russell Owens of East Hartford, Daniel Owens and his significant other, Sharon, of Enfield, Carl Owens and his wife, Terri, of Stafford Springs; fourteen cherished grandchildren; many adored great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and friends. Rita was predeceased by her beautiful daughter Christine Elaine (Owens) Davis in 1972. Funeral service will be Thursday (April 16th) at 11 am at the D'ESOPO-East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home chapel on Thursday morning from 10-11 am.
