Robert Bezila Obituary

Robert J. Bezila ("Bob"), a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on December 24, 2023. Born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania on November 10, 1942, to Emory J. Sr. and Susan (Pazin) Bezila, Bob's life was filled with adventure, laughter, and a passion for connection. He was a star athlete in his hometown, leaving his mark on the football field before heading south to play for Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. His athletic spirit stayed with him throughout his life, transitioning into a love for golf and a fervent support of UCONN sports. Beyond the playing field, Bob's greatest talent was his ability to build friendships. His warm smile and infectious humor drew people in, creating a network of loved ones that spanned generations and communities. He was most recently a resident of Covenant Living in Cromwell, Connecticut, after living for more than 30 years in Glastonbury. Bob's professional career saw him rise to the position of Vice President at The Hartford's bond department, where his dedication and acumen resulted in friendships across the country and a lasting impact at the firm. But his true legacy lies in the hearts of those he touched. He was a devoted husband to his wife Lucy, a loving father and grandfather. He leaves behind his children Laura, Andy, Danny, and step-son Patrick. He was a cherished grandfather to Emily, Jacob, Grace, Sofia, Nathan, Michael, Megan, Naomi, Patrick Jr., Merida, Liam, Jonathan, and Eddie, and a proud great-grandfather to three little ones. Bob was predeceased by his brother Emory Joseph Jr. and his first wife Carol Ann Huey. He leaves behind his sister Dorothy Hampton and a multitude of friends who will forever hold him dear. Bob Bezila was a force of warmth, generosity, and unwavering spirit. He will be deeply missed, but his memory will continue to light up the lives of those he knew and loved. In celebration of Bob's life a mass and memorial will be held at Covenant Living 101 West St, Cromwell, CT 06416 in the Event Center on Saturday January 27, 2024 at 11:00am. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Robert Bezila can be made to Saint Jude's Children's Research Hospital or The House of Bread 27 Chestnut St, Hartford, CT 06120. We can remember meeting Bob for the first time and being drawn in by his big smile. Our dear friend Lucy considered her self blessed to have him in her life. We only wish we could have spent more time with their extended family. We were lucky to have known him. Our prayers and the prayers of our family are with Bob & Lucy and their families during this difficult time.
God Bless,
Tom & Carol Aylward

Bob was an outstanding person to know and work with. Always professional, knowledgeable, and fun. A really nice guy. We worked together for many years at the Aetna Casualty & Surety Co. My wife Miriam and I are truly sorry to read of his passing. Our condolences to Bob's family. He was one of the Best.
