Robert Bowker Obituary



Robert Morse Bowker Born Christmas Day, 1932 Robert Morse Bowker of Old Saybrook, CT passed away May 2, 2014. He was predeceased by his parents, Lewis Lyman Bowker and Elizabeth Morse Bowker of Shrewsbury, MA. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, G.Jeane (Fiske) Bowker, his sons; Robert M., Bruce S., Paul R. and Lewis L. He also leaves behind 5 granddaughters, 3 grandsons, 3 daughters in law and 1 grandson in law. "Bob" began his career in land surveying as an apprentice for W.T Moore &Co. at the age of 17. He later moved to Old Saybrook, CT and worked for Radcliffe Engineering Inc. He became a certified Land Surveyor in both Massachusetts and Connecticut and eventually started his own business, Bowker Surveying and Mapping Co. In the latter part of his career he worked as a surveyor for the Ct. State Dept of Environmental Protection for approximately 20 years, where he remained until his retirement at age 65. Bob enjoyed spending time with his family, canoeing, fishing, rooting for the UCONN Women's BB team, antiquing, gardening and socializing with his breakfast friends at Pat's Country Kitchen and Rio Café in Old Saybrook. Bob's zest for life, optimism and boundless sense of humor will be missed by all. A private graveside service will be held. In lieu of flowers please send donations in Robert Bowker's memory to: Old Saybrook Ambulance Association Visiting Nurses of the Lower Valley Old Saybrook Police Department.
