CERNIGLIA, Robert W. Sr.
Robert W. Cerniglia, Sr., 72, of Bristol, CT, died Friday, (May 18, 2012), at Bristol Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Grace (Melaragno) Cerniglia for 47 years. Mr. Cerniglia was born on April 2, 1940, in Southington, CT, the son of the late Joseph and Sylvia (Andelin) Cerniglia. He was employed by the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles, as an Inspector for 20 years, until his retirement in 2003. He served his country with the US Navy for four years. He was a member of the Torrington Elk`s Lodge #372, and enjoyed metal detecting, old cars and collecting coins. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. In addition to his wife Grace, he is survived by one son, Robert W. Cerniglia, Jr. and his wife Lisa of Farmington; two daughters, Carla Cerniglia-Clark and her husband Steve of Barkhamsted, CT, Susan Cerniglia and her fiance James Wozniak of Bolton, CT; one brother, Joseph Cerniglia of Richardson, TX; three grandsons, Robert Vincent Cerniglia, Ryan Joseph Cerniglia, Daniel Anthony Cerniglia, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 22, 2012, with the cortege departing at 11:30 a.m. from Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield St., Torrington to St. Peter Church, 107 East Main St., Torrington, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 noon. Burial will be private. Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday morning, May 22nd from 10-11:30 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that memorial contributions be made to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, 5005 Lyndon B Johnson Freeway, Suite 250, Dallas, TX 75244.
