I came across this obituary while searching online for some geneology information. My Grandmother was Gertrude DeValve, sister of William DeValve who married Bertha Covert. William and Bertha had a son Herbert DeValve who married Bertha. Robert was their son.
I am so sorry for your loss. It looks like Robert touched many lives during his lifetime.

Pastor Bob,
He was the first person you saw when you walked into church and made you feel welcome. I used to call him James Bond because he knew everything about the church and its inner workings. I will miss him a lot he taught me so much in such a little time. Thank you Pastor Bob I will never forget you.

My prayers are with you. Bob was a faithful volunteer for many years in the prison system in Connecticut bringing the Good News of Jesus Christ to the incarcerated. As former director of Prison Fellowship in New England, it was a pleasure to serve with him.

My thoughts and prayers are with you in this time of sadness. I remember Dr. DeValve from PVCS. He was my Bible and Math teacher during my senior year in 1986. He was a brilliant man and taught us well. I am proud to say I knew him.

He was my Pastor in the 70's. What a wonderful and kind man he was. I am now a Pastor and try to bring the kind of caring to my people that Pastor DeValve did to his.

Aunt Jean and Family,
We are sorry to hear about Uncle Bob. We do know that he is with his Lord and we will see him again some day. We always enjoyed the visits when you came to Washington. We are glad you had the opportunity this past summer to enjoy time spent with your sisters and their spouses. May you keep your trust in God as you walk with him through your time of sorrow and loss.

Tim, Laurie, Caleb, Levi, Jacob, and Seth;
We were shocked to hear of the passing of your Dad, father-in-law, and grandfather this past Sunday. After seeing him at Caleb's wedding this summer, he seemed to be the model of good health and spirit. We are pleased he was with us to marry one of his grandchildren. Our sympathies to all of you during this time of loss and grief. He is in a much better place.

For years I did the budget at Trinity Covenant Church and had my own ideas about missionary money and spending. Bob sat with me one night and talked about what a missionary was and what the money did. My eyes (and heart) were opened and from that budget on we made it a policy to Tithe 10% of Trinity’s budget to Missions. Bob was one of my major influences in my early Christian life and I will always remember the many talks we had when I had difficult decisions to make. There are no finer examples of Bob’s life than the good family he leaves behind.
