Robert Henry DeVALVE

DeVALVE, Robert Henry Robert Henry DeValve, beloved husband of Jean K. DeValve, born in Baldwin, Long Island, NY, on June 20, 1930 to Herbert and Bertha DeValve, entered safely into the arms of Jesus on Sunday (January 17, 2010). He graduated from Union College in Schenectady, NY in 1952 with a BS in Electrical Engineering. After graduating from Union College, he worked as an Electrical Engineer in Washington, DC. He then returned to school and received a Master of Divinity from Fuller Seminary in Pasadena, CA in 1956 and a Master of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania in 1958. He received his PhD from Hartford Seminary in Hartford, CT in 1973. During the late 1950's and early 1960's he taught school in Turkey, Washington State, and in Nigeria, West Africa at Kagoro Secondary School and Jos Evangelical Theological Seminary. During the 1970's he served as a pastor of Main Street Baptist Church in Meriden, CT. Following that, he taught math and science for fourteen years at Pioneer Valley Christian High School in East Longmeadow, MA. For the past decade he has served as Pastor of Missions at Trinity Covenant Church in Manchester, CT. Besides his wife Jean, he is survived by four sons, John and his wife Nancy, James and his wife Beth Anne, Timothy and his wife Laurie, and David and his wife Deborah. He was also the loving grandfather of 13 grandchildren, Daniel John, Suzanne, Benjamin, Daniel Robert, Andrew James, Caleb and his wife Keri, Levi, Jacob, Seth, Dillon, Danae, Deanna, and Daria; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Albert and Herbert. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, January 22, 2010 at 7 p.m. at Trinity Covenant Church 302 Hackmatack St. in Manchester, CT.
