Robert Muello Obituary

Robert Francis Muello, 85, who lived in Newington most of his adult life and grew up in the Boston suburbs, passed through the pearly gates on Friday, December 31, 2021 surrounded by his four children. Robert was son to the late William and Madeline Muello (Picardi) of Arlington, MA. He was also predeceased by his brother Billy, who we're certain made sure he crossed over before midnight so they could toast to the New Year together! Robert had many nicknames …. Bobby Boy, Moose and The Papster to name a few. He is survived by his four children; Monica Muello, Robert Muello Jr., Laura Muello, Valerie Bertoline and her husband Dominick, his ex-wife Marcia "Mimi" Lamparelli, his brothers: Richard and Paul Muello, both of MA, and three grandchildren: Alanna Noël, Luke Robert and Chase Douglas. He grew up in Arlington with three brothers. Life at 69 Newport Street would shape his personality and character traits, creating the most loyal, competitive, charismatic individual the town would forever know as Moose Muello. Voted most popular and most athletic, he was a show-stopper for sure. Number 30 on the football field, he was a force to be reckoned with. Scholastically, after graduating from AHS, he attended a year at Cheshire Academy to prep him for top ranked Bates College in Maine where he majored in Psychology and played football. He also proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. With that sly grin and sparkle in his eye, he could charm the pants off just about anyone he encountered. In business, regardless of where he worked, as a Sales Manager with Pro Brush or upscale Nordstrom, he was always a top producer and very successful. In the archives, we recently found a letter a customer at Nordstrom wrote to Corporate "complaining" about his recent in-store experience. He went to the mall for a 3-pack of socks that cost $10 and ended up leaving with underwear, t-shirts, two dress shirts, handkerchiefs and a really stupid yellow tie that cost $260! His favorite things in life weren't things at all. He loved his family truly and deeply. He loved his friends and son-in-law: Stevie C., Paulie A. and Dom. He kept his circle tight and would give the shirt off his back for those in that circle. One of his favorite things to do was watch a game with the boys and eat pizza …. pepperoni and onion, extra crispy. When it came to sports, especially the Patriots, he was like Rainman. He literally knew every single statistic of every NFL game, as well as every player inside and out…. And we're fairly certain even he had a secret crush on Tom Brady just like the rest of us. And he just HAD to have a Hershey's chocolate bar with almonds during every Patriots game. Pappy was a very proud Grandfather, ensuring his 3 grandchildren were the best dressed kids around. He was always first to arrive for Sunday dinners, hockey games and important activity and school functions. Alanna will always cherish her add-a-pearl necklace from Pappy. He is guiding Chase and Luke's college choices with purpose. He had the confidence of a warrior and the most infectious laugh. He always "lightly tapped" the bumper of the car in front of him while parking. His favorite meal was the Wagyu steak at Ruth's Chris Steak House, which he either intentionally or unintentionally pronounced Ragu. He believed he was the Founding Father of his favorite beach, Mayflower, on the Cape. Sitting under his purple umbrella, listening to the sounds of summer and watching the sunset ... that was his happy place. He didn't have a handy bone in his body. He swore up a storm every summer while installing the air conditioners. He watched 60 Minutes every Sunday. He wasn't fond of pets. Bobby Boy was ALWAYS the best dressed man in the room. Loud, charming, gregarious, and bigger than life. That sums up Robert Francis Muello. He was THE BEST. Save us a seat at the table Dad …. Our Hero, Our Father, Our Protector, Our Friend. A time of visitation will be held Thursday, January 6, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield, concluding with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Burial with military honors will be held at a later date. The D'Esopo Funeral Chapel was entrusted with arrangements.

My deepest condolences to the family, I was going through my contacts today and said "I wonder what he´s up to? I googled the phone number and found this obituary. I worked with Bob at Anderson Little for several years and he became a very close friend. I would always visit him at Nordstrom when I was in town from Florida and would be greeted with a big "HELLO T!!! to which I would reply "B!!" I was still sending him Christmas cards up till several years ago but then wasn´t hearing back from him and called his number to find that it was disconnected, so I assumed that maybe he had passed, turns out he was still around then and passed a few years later. I only wish I thought to look sooner. I´m deeply saddened while reading his obituary and thinking back of the memories of the many many laughs and good times that we had. He always made me feel very special and I wish that I could have talked with him once more. As you all know, your father and grandfather was a great man.. and he was very influential to me in my life.
