Robert "Bob" J. Taylor, 80, of Windsor and formerly of East Hartford, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 11, 2022 surrounded by his caring family at his home. Bob was the loving husband of 45 years of the late Barbara (Wilk) Taylor. Born in New York, NY on June 17, 1941, a son of the late John and Marie (Ravagnani) Taylor, he had been a resident of the Hartford area for most of his life. Bob was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. Prior to his retirement, Bob was a West Hartford Firefighter for 30 years and past President for 25 years of the IAFF Local 1241 of West Hartford. He was also Chairman of the Board for Capital Region Federal Credit Union for 25 years. An avid sports fan, Bob was a longtime loyal fan of the UConn women's basketball team, attending several Final Four tournaments that they participated in. He was also a faithful fan of the Boston Red Sox. Bob liked playing flag football, cards, reading, and traveling with his late wife Barbara, family, and friends. Most of all, Bob was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed supporting and spending time during each week with his family and friends. Bob is survived by one daughter, Deborah S. Fenton and her partner, Stacy Kelley, of East Hartford; one son, Daniel W. Taylor and his wife, Maria, of New Britain; six cherished grandchildren, Jennifer Laribee and her husband Adam of Watertown, Matthew Eason and his wife Ashley of East Hartford, Victoria Bernier and her husband Scott of West Hartford, Nicholas Fenton of East Hartford, Rebecca Fenton of East Hartford, Daniel Taylor of New Britain; three adored great-grandchildren, Logan Mounce and Greyson Laribee both of Watertown, and Anthony Eason of East Hartford. He also leaves two sisters, Kathleen "Kay" Frangione and her husband Frank of Southington, Suzanne "Sue" Cody of Windsor with whom he made his home; his partner, Deborah (Echelson) Wishnevsky of Windsor; two special dear friends, Katie (Symington) Marek of Bolton and Ed Fenton, Jr. of East Hartford; several nieces, nephews, and friends. A memorial service celebrating Bob's life will be Tuesday (March 1, 2022) at 6 pm at the D'Esopo East Hartford Memorial Chapel, 30 Carter Street, East Hartford. Bob's family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday afternoon from 4-6 pm at the funeral home chapel. Private burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Usually every Monday morning as i opened the Library there was Bob standing waiting to enter and check out books. I never could understand how he read so many in one week. He would always share how he enjoyed spending time with his family and his love of basketball. The last time i saw him was about 2 months ago and he told me of his illness and i was sorry to hear the sad news. He always had a smile on his face. My condolences to all of his family.
