WALSH, Robert J., Jr.
Robert Joseph Walsh, Jr. died on Friday, (July 12, 2013). Bobby attended Manchester public schools, graduating from Manchester High School in 1979. He went on to earn a Bachelors degree in Criminal Justice and a Masters degree in Special Education from American International College in Springfield, MA. As a special education teacher, Bobby found his calling, helping at-risk teenagers in alternative education settings. A gifted athlete, Bobby excelled in football, soccer and track in both high school and college. He was Manchester High School's Athlete of the Year in 1979 holding many school records for years. He was also a proud member of the Alpha Sigma Delta fraternity at AIC. Bobby delighted in cooking for family and friends. He loved the outdoors, especially hiking in the woods, swimming at the water hole, fishing at the Hop Yard and Watch Hill, and enjoying family and friends around his fire pit. But his greatest accomplishment and joy was his three boys. Bobby will be missed dearly by his beloved sons, Josef, Aidan, and Quinn; his devoted brother Matthew and his wife, Mary; his adoring sisters, Patricia Krassner, Katrine Rush and her husband, David, Nancy Richardson and her husband, Robert, his loving uncle, Stanley Talarski and Aunt Rosemary Martin. Bobby will also be missed deeply by his nieces and nephews, Meaghan, Samantha, Benjamin, and Kathleen Walsh; Alexandra Krassner, Jonathan and Mathena Rush, and Sara and Michael Richardson, along with countless cousins and friends. Bobby was predeceased by his parents, Dr. Robert J. and Jennie T. Walsh, his godmother, Mary M. Boukus and his godfather, Judge John F. Walsh.
A Memorial Mass will be held for Bobby at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 19, 2013 at St. Bridget's Church, 80 Main St., Manchester, CT, - bow ties optional - followed by a private burial at St. James Catholic Cemetery with immediate family only. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made in Bobby's memory to the Robert J. Walsh Children's Educational Fund c/o Melissa Lauretti, 768 North Main St., Manchester, CT 06042. Bobby, one of the last tributes to you on this page was from Todd Eadie, who departed this summer and now joined you. I trust that the two of you are having a grand time now in heaven as you did at the frat. It must be one hell of an eternal party. Thinking of you Walshee...

Bobby. Thinking about you and the house you lived in on Case Mountain. The town of Manchester is planning on tearing down the log cabin across from it. I know if you were still here you would fight to save it. You had such a big heart! Miss you friend

Having had Bob as a roomate in college and a fraternity brother, ASD I think of Bob often. Bobby had magic in him. He was so good with people. Had his hand of cards been dealt/played only slightly differently, he could have still been with us. All who know and love Bobby would have been blessed. To Bobs family, you already know his spirit and he was one of a kind. I know I will never forget the times I had with Bob. RIP

Condolences to the Walsh family and friends. A big loss to the many lives that Bobby touched in his own unique and special way. Our 4 years at AIC/ASD were both fun and reflective, for as carefree as Bobby appeared, he was a deep thinker with a true sense of justice and caring. That carried forth in his career. Bobby had an original style, from his clothes, dances, "quoteism's" snarly laugh and VW bug. I'll never forget our week trip to Cape Cod together in that car and how he asked me an "ECHS Eagle" to travel with him and his MHS buddies. Bobby had a way of connecting with all people across cliques and making all feel welcome. He was a true friend and fraternity brother. It is sad that distance and making our own way in life limits the times shared in adulthood. Know though that Bobby was admired for his special gifts and friendship. He will always be our fraternal brother and his family our family. May he rest in peace now and may the memory of his kindness and genuineness live on in his boys.

Condolence: My deepest sympathy to the entire Walsh family. Although I didn't see Bobby often over the past many years, when I did it was like time hadn't passed. We would talk like we had seen each other only the day before. The last time I saw him was at UCONN some years ago when our children were performing in the state music regionals. He was incredibly proud of his boys and their talents. He was a kind and gentle man with a Big heart. I wish we had been in touch more, I wish he had reached out - I'll miss my dear friend.
