Robert Weiss Obituary

Robert C. Weiss, a 19-year resident of Avon, Connecticut, passed away on the morning of Wednesday, February 20th following a brief but hard-fought battle with Cancer.Born on June 10, 1963, Bob was raised in Simsbury, Connecticut by a village of loving family members who, in addition to his mother and father, included his six siblings. After graduating from Simsbury High School in 1981 and the Technical Career Institute in 1988 he founded his own IT solutions company, but later joined Aetna Health Insurance in a similar role, leading the development of the company's ever-shifting technology infrastructure for 25 years.Up until his last moments, at the age of 55, Bob remained a chatty and gregarious member of the community, always interested in local happenings. During his free time, he enjoyed rooting for the Red Sox, the St. Louis Rams, and the Syracuse University Orangemen, after his son, Zachary, chose to attend the university to complete his undergraduate studies from 2010 to 2014. He could also rarely be found without the family's Labradoodle, Max, by his side.Bob will be dearly missed by his wife, MaryAnn Zuk Weiss; son, Zachary Weiss; brother-in-law Phil Gelineau; and siblings James Weiss, Patricia Degon, Barbara Leveski, William Weiss, and Kenneth Weiss. He joins his sister, Linda Weiss Gelineau, and parents Eleanor W. Weiss and Sumner B. Weiss in heaven. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations to be made to Dog Star Rescue and Our Companions Animal Rescue & Sanctuary. Funeral services will be held privately. Family and friends may sign the guest book or send condolences to Robert's family by visiting ahernfuneralhome.com/condolences.

I am so sorry to hear about Bob's passing from cancer. Bob lived life with exuberance. I knew him at Aetna where we shared Red Sox stories. I remember his love for, and pride in Zachary. I also remember seeing Bob and Zachary at the library of all places. My sincere condolences to family and friends.
