Robert W. Winter

Robert William Winter passed away at his home in Colchester, on April 22, 2023, with his loving family by his side. He was 91 years old. Robert was born on March 18, 1932, in East Providence, Rhode Island. He was one of three children of the late George and Dorothy (Goodwin) Winter. He grew up in East Providence and graduated from East Providence High School. He married his beloved wife, Beverly Lund. The couple shared 67 years together before she predeceased him on April 14, 2019. Robert was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Hebron and worked for over 40 years at Agway in the farm and feed division. It was a brave choice to remain at home as he prepared to return to his childhood sweetheart and bride of 67 years. We can almost see them holding hands strolling down their favorite RI beach. Free, finally together again. Thanks Dad for giving us the love of the ocean and a good beach chair, the canopy of the forest, the joy of a good meal, the calm of a drive to nowhere, the fun of a good quip, and our love of maps. Our deepest gratitude to Hilery, Gretchen, Adela, Katherine, Janet, Susan S, Betty and countless neighbors. Also, to the CT Community Care program and HHC Hospice at Home, especially Lisa. You all know how you've helped and enriched Dad's life, and so do we. Robert will be forever loved and remembered by his three children; Karen Winter of Benzonia, MI, Cheryl (Bruce) Rafferty of Cape Coral, FL, and Jill (Gary) Spelucin of Leland NC; son-in-law, Peter Stadnick of Quaker Hill, CT; five grandchildren, Christopher, Erin, Robert, Bruce, and Corie; nine great grandchildren; and numerous extended friends and family. In addition to his parents, Robert was predeceased by his daughter Carrie Stadnick and his sister, Avis Stuttard and brother Charles Winter. In accordance to Robert's wishes, burial will be held privately at the discretion of the family.
