Roger BERGSTROM

BERGSTROM, Roger Roger Bergstrom, 89, of Newington passed away Monday (January 24, 2011) at the Hospital of Central CT, New Britain. He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy (Benson) Bergstrom for 67 years until her death on November 13, 2010. He was born in Bridgeport, son of the late Gunnar and Ellen (Marshall) Bergstrom. Roger was a U.S Coast Guard veteran; he served his country honorably during World War II. He was employed for 36 years by Stanley Tools retiring in 1982. He was a member of the Church of Christ, Congregational, Newington. He is survived by his daughters, Jane Kramer and her husband Barry of Newington and Nancy Fichtler and her husband Gary of Paramus, NJ; five grandchildren, Christopher, Matthew, Sarah, Daniel and Timothy and his nephew Thomas Gaudette. He was pre-deceased by his brother Herbert Bergstrom and stepfather Nelson Hopkins. Roger's funeral service will be held on Friday, January 28, at 1 p.m. at the Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington. The Rev. Dr. Kenneth Brookes will officiate. Interment will follow in West Meadow Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday from 12-1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Church of Christ Congregational, 1075 Main St., Newington, CT 06111.
