Ruth Fountain Obituary

Mother Ruth (Risby) Fountain, of Middletown, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones on Tuesday, April 3, 2018. Mother Fountain was born to the late Albert and Ruby (Williams) Risby on July 22, 1926 in Hartford, CT. Mother Fountain retired from Pratt and Whitney Aircraft after many years of service. She married her beloved husband the late Deacon Daniel J. Fountain in Portland, CT. They were married for sixty-one years and to this union was eight children. Mother Fountain was a member of True Vine Holiness Church where she served The Lord with all her heart and was involved in many functions at the church. On April 21, 1998, Mother Fountain along with her late husband Daniel Fountain, her Sisters in Christ Deaconess Grace Larry and Reverend Earlene Grant received a Certificate of Recognition for outstanding community service from The Hartford Courant. Mother Fountain is survived by sons, Nathaniel J (Gladys) Fountain Sr. of Meriden, David W. Fountain Sr. of Middletown, daughters Lorraine F, (Charles) Davis of Hartford, Emmajean Jenkins of Middletown, Patricia A. (Henry) Duncan of Scranton, SC, Eddie – May Roulhac and Blanche Mae Harrell of Middletown, sisters Brenda (Joe) Spikes, Thelma Chatfield, Alma Caffee brother-in-law Robert Fountain, sisters-in-law Julia Risby, Alma Doer, Dorothy Fountain and Annette Fountain, twenty-nine grandchildren, eighty-three great grandchildren, eight great, great grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces and other relatives, friends and a special friend Deaconess Grace Larry. Besides her parents and husband, Mother Fountain was predeceased by her son Walter Lee Fountain, brothers William Williams, Albert Risby and sister Emily Santos, grandsons Nathaniel Fountain Jr., Marcus Fountain and Eric Moore, granddaughters Danielle Fountain, Shanika Wiggins, and great granddaughter Shakira Duncan, father and mother-in-law Daniel and Martha Fountain, brothers-in-law Muriel Fountain, Basiel Fountain, John Fountain and James Doer, sisters –in- law Annie Mae Fountain, Martha Smith, Gladys Preston, Emily Johnson, Pearl Cockfield, Mary Fountain and Lucille Hughes, son-in-laws Melvin Jenkins, Earl Harrell and Richard Roulhac. The family wishes to thank all for your thoughts, prayers, phone calls and acts of kindness that comforted us in so many ways during this time of bereavement. Special thanks to the entire staff of Middlesex Hospice. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 10 at 11:00 am at First Congregational Church of Portland, 554 Main Street, Portland, CT. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery in Middletown. Family and friends may call on Tuesday morning from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the First Congregational Church of Portland. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mother Fountain's memory to True Vine Holiness Church, 398 Main Street, Portland, CT 06480.
