Salvatore Sipala Obituary

Salvatore "Sal" Sipala, of Rocky Hill, beloved husband and soulmate for 47 years of Beverly (Forgetta) Sipala, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 24, 2020 at Hartford Hospital. Born in Canicattini Bagni, Province of Siracusa, Sicily on September 10, 1936, he was the son of the late Santo and Maria (Ficara) Sipala. Sal was a talented barber, working at Towne Barber Shop in Glastonbury for over 30 years. Sal was a founding member of the Canicattinese Society of Hartford, he especially enjoyed playing soccer in both Italy and at Dillon Stadium in Hartford. He was a huge fan of the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots and the Boston Celtics. He and Beverly enjoyed traveling and had the opportunity to create beautiful memories. He especially enjoyed being surrounded by his family and friends. In addition to his devoted wife Beverly, Sal will be forever missed by his sister-in-law, Santina Sipala; brother-in-law, Peter Forgetta and wife Julia; four special nieces and nephews, Maria Cafro, husband Scott, Gina Uricchio, husband John, Thomas Forgetta, wife Margaret and Christina Reilly, husband J.D.; nine cherished great-nieces and great-nephews, Michael Cafro, fiancée Elizabeth, Laura Cafro, Alexandra "Ally" Uricchio, John "Johnny" Uricchio, Nicolette Forgetta, Andrew Forgetta, Anthony Forgetta, Giuliana Reilly and Ella Reilly, his godson, Dino Miano, wife Marilena. He also leaves his special friends, Fred and Susan DiNardi. Sal was predeceased by his brother, Michele "Mike" Sipala. A special thank you to Dr. David Salm who gave Sal excellent care through the years and they shared many laughs together. Funeral services will begin Monday (March 2) at 10:30 a.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at St. Josephine Bakhita Parish at St. James Church, 767 Elm Street, Rocky Hill. Entombment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Donations in Sal's memory may be made to the American Heart Association, 5 Brookside Drive, Wallingford, CT 06492 or St. Josephine Bakhita Parish, 767 Elm Street, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
