VERNALI, Salvatrice (Romano) Salvatrice (Romano) Vernali, 94, of Williams Avenue, Winsted, died Monday, (April 10, 2006) at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. She was the wife of the late Giuseppe Vernali who predeceased her on July 28, 1997. Born May 24, 1911 in Floridia, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Paolo and Lucia (Garro) Romano. She moved to the United States with her family during November of 1961. She was employed by Capitol Products until her retirement in 1973. She was a member of the Italian American Women's Club, and was a communicant of St. Joseph Church. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and spending time with her beloved family and friends. She is survived by two sons, Salvatore Vernali of Winsted, Paul Vernali and his wife, Enza of Glastonbury; a son-in-law, Angelo Fiducia of Winsted; two grandsons, Joseph Fiducia and his wife, Kim, Joseph Vernali; three granddaughters, Josephine Fiducia English and her husband Christopher, Sylvia Vernali, Jennifer Vernali; a great grandson, Max Fiducia; a great granddaughter, Sophia Fiducia as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Angela Fiducia; four brothers, Pasquale Romano, Carmelo Romano, Sebastiano Romano, Francesco Romano; and three sisters, Giuseppa Fiducia Concetta Calafiore, Lucia Mazzarella. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 12, at 12:30 p.m. from The LaPorta-Cook Funeral Home, 82 Litchfield Street, Torrington, to St. Joseph Church, 31 Oak Street, Winsted, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow in St. Joseph New Cemetery. Calling hours will be held TODAY, from 5 - 9 p.m. at The LaPorta-Cook Funeral Home.
