To the family of Lt. Col. Samuel S. Humphrey

I was a distant cousin of him going back to Lewis S. Mills Sr. whose brother Erin Mills was Mary Humphrey's father. I remember trips to the farm and seeing Aunt Bertha, Mary's Mother, Sams Mother-in-law. Orwin lived across the street at the time from the farm. When Sam and Mary moved back on the farm we went to see them. What wonderful visits we had. They were so warm and welcoming to family. In 1969,I moved to Virginia with my husband and 2 children. We lived there for 25 years not able to get up very often for visits. I missed being absent those years and not being able to see my "Mills" family. My visits with Sam the last couble of years and my visit with Mary were memorable.

My special thoughts and prayers are all my cousins and family in Canton, Mass. and Alaska.

To the Humphrey Family,
I'm saddened by Sam's passing and will certainly keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers. He was a good man- a friend to our family going back to Air Force days. We could always count on Sam being there for us in good times and bad. He will be sorely missed. Growing up in the 60's and 70's, I hold my memories of comraderie with the Humphrey family as fellow members of the Ski Siesta Club being one of the best.

We just learned of Sam's passing and we want to express our sympathy to all his family on the loss of this very wonderful man. He was a true patriot, a tireless public servant and a good friend to many people. We worked with him through politics and had the joy of entertaining him and Mary in our home, and he was a gentleman and truly "great guy" no matter what the circumstance. We know that his family always was the most important part of his life, so we hope that all of you will be comforted by knowing that Sam and Mary are together once again, and the memories of all the happiness you shared together will carry you through this time of grief.

To all of Sam's family:

I am sad to learn of Sam's passing. Seeing him last Thanksgiving after several years and meeting all of you, most for the first time, reminded me how warm and loving a family he had. Thank you all for sharing him and Mary with me, Nancy & Carol.

Warren, Ken and Mary Ann-
I wish that I could be there with all of you to honor your father's full and varied life. He and your mother were always welcoming to my mother and I when your Uncle Will married my mother. I loved listening to the stories that your father told about Canton Center, the Humphrey families and the Mills families. He will be missed in the big and the little things of life.
Much Love,
Nancy Stewart

Dear Marianne, Kenny, and Warren,

I was so sorry to hear of the passing of your dad and my dear Uncle Sam. He was such a special man in so many ways, a wonderful brother to my dad, and a loving uncle to me and my sisters for many decades. We will always remember his loving way, his always-present smile, his sense of humor, not to mention his many accomplishments. We all have such a rich legacy of love and joy because of him, and we are all so grateful for all the good he brought into our lives. I had such a nice visit with him last October when my dad and I went to the Farm, and he joined us to go through the items
and select a few momentos, sharing our memories of events at the Farm. He looked so good and seemed so happy, and then said he was off to a meeting - always keeping busy and giving of himself.

I will be accompanying my dad to the private ceremony at the cemetery as well as the memorial service at the church. It is a time for us all to come together in gratitude for all your dad meant to us.

With love, Joyce

Dear Marianne & Harold & family

So sorry to read of your dad's passing. The several times I met him and your dear mom, at family gatherings to which you invited me, he was a wonderful and entertaining host. He gave much to his family and his community. He will be remembered fondly for his extensive contributions for the benefit of many. May the comfort and consolation of God, and your many happy memories of your dad, help you at this difficult time.

Dear Humphrey Family
My parents, Charles and Ruth Keefe, and I would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to you during this time. As a youth I remmember going out to cut down Christmas Trees and even though my family and I live in North Carolina, we each year seek out a tree farm to cut down our tree, these are memories that were forged in Canton with the help of Mr Humphrey, along with many other at the North Canton Fire Station. He was a Good man and left an imprint on many lives, May GOD give you piece in this time of loss.
