Sarah Palmer Obituary

Sarah "Sally" (Blish) Palmer, 85, of Lebanon, CT, passed away August 12, 2017. She was born April 7, 1932 to the late Lester and Rachel (Grant) Blish of Willimantic. Sarah attended Windham High School, this was where she met her husband, Earl Palmer, of Andover. The couple was married for 67 years and spent many wonderful years on Andover Lake, raising their six children. Over the years, Sarah was active in the community and nurtured several personal passions. She was both a talented artist who enjoyed painting landscapes, and a skilled writer who contributed to several local newspapers. She loved gardening and traveling with her husband, spending most of her vacation time in Maine. Sarah was also a longtime member of the Andover Congregational Church, in Andover. As a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a docent at the Trumbull House in Lebanon, Sarah still found time to fulfill a desire for higher education. She was proud to earn her Associates Degree from Eastern Connecticut State University at the age of 71. A sensitive, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Sarah leaves behind to mourn her passing her five children: Earl L. Palmer (Pamela) of Naples, FL, Kenneth Palmer (Billie) of Bloomfield, Daniel Palmer of Columbia, Laurel Albair (Christopher) of Naples, FL, and David Palmer of Voluntown; seven grandchildren: Karen Jordan (Jeremy), Sonya Fleming (Geoffrey), Sara Olson (Ryan), Christopher Palmer (Lillian), Stephen Palmer (Diana), John Palmer (Jamie), and Abigail Storiale (Michael); and blessed with ten great-grandchildren: Cara, Christopher, Kailey, Miranda, Kaisa, Amelia, Eva, William, Leeanne, and Leo, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Sarah was predeceased by her husband, Earl - her beloved "Corky" - a beautiful daughter, Rachel, her precious baby granddaughter, Rebecca, sister, Dorcas Freidrich, and brother, Lester Blish. Our family would like to express our deep gratitude to the staff, and the nurses and doctors in ward A and ward B at Apple Rehab in Colchester for their loving attention and care for Sarah in the last few years. There will be no calling hours. A private service and burial will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association. For an online memorial guestbook please visit www.potterfuneralhome.com.
