Sean Blacker Obituary

Sean Thomas Blacker, 58, of Avon, found eternal rest on March 11, 2021, born the 7th child of Joyce Ann O'Neil Blacker and F. David Blacker on March 14, 1962. He had all the beautiful Irish qualities: resilience, bravery, perseverance, fortitude, and Irish gift of gab. Surviving many of life's battles, Sean never lost his strength or passion for living. He cherished his family, his longtime companion Karen Doyle and his Secret Lake friends, young and old. Sean graduated E.C. Goodwin Tech in 1980 and joined the Air Force in 1981. He served for seven years in Germany as a medical transportation technician. Following his Air Force service, Sean returned to his hometown of Avon, CT showing his patriotism each year by anonymously placing flags at each household on Secret Lake Road. He further honored the service affiliation of each family with the appropriate branch flag. He worked for thirty years in the food service industry giving his hard work, dedication, and smile to everyone. He was forever grateful to Silvio, Theresa, and Maria Brighenti who made Sean feel like part of their family. Sean will be remembered for his strong faith and loving soul by all of the Junior Explorer campers and leaders who he woke up each day and laughed with at Camp Wightman, the American Baptist Camp in Griswold, CT. Sean enjoyed indulging in his Halloween tradition of giving out 1 pound Hershey bars to all trick or treaters and showing his compassion by remembering those who could not eat chocolate with 1 pound licorice candies. He also loved decorating his home for Christmas and entertaining his neighbors and friends in his childhood Secret Lake home like a true "swamper." Besides his parents, Joyce and Dave, Sean was predeceased by his two brothers; Roderick and Christopher, two brother-in-laws; Anthony Tomaszewski and John Jenkins, his sister-in-law Wendy K. Blacker, and two of his almost brothers Rodney Wyman and Chas Laflamme. Sean is survived by his brothers; David (MaryBeth), Timothy and Jeffrey, his sisters-in-law; Beverly Blacker and Paula Jagiello. He also leaves a boat load of nieces and nephews, cousins, and his god-sister Allyson Mulligan. Sean's family would like to thank the many wonderful Secret Lake neighbors for their warm kindness throughout the years, and the McLean Hospice providers who cared for him during his illness, especially, Ursula, Cassandra, and Leah. Along with his loving support team, Holly, Linda, Candice, Paula, Jamie, Cousin Karen and Connie. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Newington Veterans Home, 555 Willard Ave., Newington, CT 06111, where Sean received medical attention as needed and raised funds in a raffle at his yearly Labor Day horseshoe tournament and picnic. Contributions may also be made to Camp Wightman, 207 Coal Pit Hill Road, Griswold, CT 06351. Sean's family will receive friends on Friday, April 2, 2021 from 4-7PM at Carmon Funeral Home & Family Center, 301 Country Club Road, Avon, CT 06001. A private memorial service for family only will take place at Canton Community Baptist Church. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. My heart is broken as I write this because I have lost yet another one of my blacker Brothers. Sean was about as close to being a leprechaun as any human being I've ever known. This sweet, fun-loving, playful, sensitive ways were obvious to everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. He had a twinkle in those beautiful blue eyes, a mischievous grin, and a Heart of gold. I know he is having a blast in heaven with his Mom ,
And Dad,Roddy, Wendy, and Rodney. I am blessed to have had him for a little brother for so many years.

Sean I enjoyed how you taught the children at Children's Church on Sundays. You will be missed.
