Born in West Hartford on June 24, 1927, Shirley graduated from Newington High in 1945 and according to her yearbook was voted "Prettiest Girl in Class." Blessed with a sweet and caring nature, she saw the best in everyone and was a dear friend to many throughout her life. Shirley is survived by her son, Robert and wife Marianne, her daughter, Karen Umland and husband Wayne, cherished grandchildren, Eric Wuelfing, Alyson Bucks and husband Justin and great-grandchildren, Christian and Ashleigh Bucks. Shirley was predeceased by her sister, Ellamay Schollhammer, brother, Edward Nyquist, and beloved granddaughter, Lauren (Umland) Reed. Per Shirley's wishes, a private family memorial service will be held at a future date. To share memories or send condolences to the family, please visit www.doolittlefuneralservice.com

Seems like a short time ago that Aunt Shirley passed. She was the sweetest Aunt that I ever could have had. So loving and friendly. She is always missed.
