DROZD, Stanley C.

Stanley C. Drozd, 74, of Newton, MA, died peacefully on Friday, (Dec. 9, 2011). Born and raised in New Britain, son of the late Stanley and Helen (Konicki) Drozd, he was a Massachusetts resident for the past 20 years. Stanley graduated from Sacred Heart School and New Britain High School. He graduated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a degree in Electrical Engineering and received his Master's Degree from Northwestern University. He was formerly employed by the Raytheon Company and MIT and served as a consultant for several companies throughout the United States. His survivors include his sister, Carolyn Drozd of Winter Springs, FL; two nephews and a niece and their families, Steven Drozd of Middletown, and Michael Drozd of Unionville; Melinda Cook and her husband Joshua of Roslindale, MA; and his sister-in-law Lucy Drozd of New Britain. He was pre-deceased by a brother Ronald Drozd and a sister Christine Drozd.
His funeral service will begin on Monday at 10 a.m. at the Burritt Hill Funeral Home, 332 Burritt St., New Britain, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church. He will be laid to rest in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Britain. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday morning from 9 to 10 a.m. at Burritt Hill. Stan was best man at my wedding. Very sorry to hear of his passing. RIP Stan.

I'm sorry to hear of Stan's passing. I was in the same fraternity as Stan at MIT. After graduation we shared a house rental in W Newton, along with other MIT/technical friends. The last time I saw Stan was at my 70th birthday party in 2002
