Steven Pomerleau Obituary



Steven Michael Pomerleau 62, of East Haddam, CT left this world unexpectedly on the morning of November 5 2014. He was born in Hartford, CT on May 5, 1952 and resided in New Britain for the majority of his life before moving to East Haddam. Steve's family owned and operated The Winthrop Market in New Britain where he learned his trade as a meat cutter. He went on to own The New Britain Beef Company and The Omelette House Restaurant in New Britain. He worked at Northeast Utilities until retiring in 2002. In the 1970's he served his country honorably and was truly proud to be a United States Marine. Semper Fi. Steve was known and loved for his big heart and generosity and always gave a helping hand to those who needed it. Steve is survived by his childhood sweetheart and partner in life, Loreen (Lori) Barone. His son Michael Pomerleau and his wife Christine Mac Rae of Plainville, his daughter Becky Pomerleau of New Britain, his brother Mark Pomerleau of East Haddam and his sister Jane Diversa and her husband John of New Britain. He is predeceased by his parents Ernest and Ann Pomerleau. He leaves four grandchildren, Natasha, Alexis, Gavin and Steven. Several nieces and nephews and his best friend of 60yrs Victor Fidi. Funeral services will be held Monday at 9am at Farrell Funeral Home 110 Franklin Square New Britain with a Mass of Christian Burial 10am at St Francis of Assisi Church 1755 Stanley St. in New Britain. Burial with full military honors will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Sunday Nov 9th 4-7pm at the funeral home.
