BECKWITH, Susan
Susan (Rowland) Beckwith, 53, of Wethersfield, beloved wife to Brian, daughter of Gail and Bob, sister to Laurie and Cheryl, and friend to many, passed away peacefully Wednesday (November 21, 2012) at Hartford Hospital. Susan was born July 30, 1959 in Manchester. She was the daughter of the late Harley W. Rowland and Gail S. Millerd, and her husband Robert J. Millerd. Before moving to Wethersfield 28 years ago, Susan and Brian lived in New Haven. While in New Haven, Susan obtained her Bachelor of Science in Art from Southern Connecticut State University. At the time of her passing, she was happily employed by GKN Aerospace of Cromwell as a Contracts and Pricing Analyst. During her career Susan also held positions at Curtis 1000 in Newington and the UTC Research Center in East Hartford. She was a faithful member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Wethersfield. Susan was a wonderful person with a huge heart who will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her loving and very extended family, especially the Beckwiths, Millerds, and Mullers. Susan is survived by her husband and best friend, R. Brian Beckwith of Wethersfield; her mother and father, Gail and Bob Millerd of Vernon; two sisters, Laurie Kennedy of West Hartford, and Cheryl Rondinone and her husband Richard, of Enfield; her three nieces, Kristen, Meaghan, and Brittney Kennedy; two very special friends, Lee Nelson of Simsbury, and Peggy Corthouts of Colorado; along with many other close and dear friends whose hearts and lives Susan touched. And not to be forgotten, Susan leaves her four legged children, York, Mugsy, Gracie, and Sadie.
Friends and relatives may pay their respects to her family on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 from 5-8 p.m. at the Farley-Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd., Wethersfield. My heartfelt condolences go out to Brian and Susan's family and friends. I worked with Sue (yes, I knew her as Sue) at UTRC. Sue, Mary and I would often go out to lunch. Sue loved music (“what song to I have in my head”), but she refused to sing. Once, when Sue was driving us back from lunch she dropped her defenses and was softly singing to herself. Instinctively, Mary and I leaned closer hear. It took a few seconds for Sue to notice that she had an audience. When she did we all burst out laughing. That was what being with Sue was like, moments fraught with hilarity. She was a wonderful person. She's probably making God roll on the floor right now.

Dear Brian and all of Sue's family,
I don't think I ever knew anyone as sweet and lovely as Sue. Working with her was always fun; we never knew what she was going to come out with. I loved her laugh.. Brian, I know you must be devestated with grief, but I hope knowing how much she adored you can help. "Honey Sweetie".. Yours was a true love story. I hope she's resting peacefully now.
