Susan Kneip Obituary

Susan H. Kneip, 85, of Hartford, CT died December 10, 2023, at Jefferson House. Mrs. Kneip was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. to the late Lester and Amelia Heller and grew up in upper New York state before moving to New Jersey in 1960 where she lived for eleven years. After she and the late Herman S. Kneip, her beloved soulmate, were married in 1971, they moved to Hartford. In 1975 she began a twenty-year career in insurance agency administration with Fred Dill & Associates, Inc. of Avon. After Mr. Dill's retirement, she continued working in the insurance industry as an employee benefits senior account executive at Dill, Joyce & Thresher, Inc. of Avon until she retired in 2003.

In addition to her love for her treasured friends, Mrs. Kneip was very fond of driving, travel, theatre for drama and dance, art museums, maps and books and had a special place in her heart for all dogs. The Grand Teton area of Wyoming was her favorite vacation spot, where she could delight in the wildlife, savor the mountain hiking, thrill at adventuring over precipitous dirt roads, and take the pictures she always shared.

She was a loyal and dependable friend and enjoyed helping others in whatever way she could.

Surviving family and loved ones include her long-time faithful friends Josephine Nagle of Windsor Locks, CT; Lynn Girard of Charlottesville, VA; Amelia Trzaka of Lakewood, NJ; Renee Howard of Scarborough, ME, as well as other close friends dear to her heart.

At Mrs. Kneip's request, final arrangements will be private. Memorial donations may be sent to The Wilderness Society, 1615 M St., NW, Suite 200, Washington, DC 20036 or The Alzheimer's Association, Connecticut Chapter, 200 Executive Blvd., Suite 4-B, Southington, CT 06489 with requests for the donation acknowledgment by the organization to go to Josephine Nagle.
