Thomas Colasanto Obituary

Thomas E. Colasanto, 79, of Terryville, passed away suddenly on May 25, 2018 at Waterbury Hospital. Born on April 10, 1939 in Waterbury, he was the son of Theresa B. Cleary and of the late Thomas H. Colasanto. Tom graduated from Crosby High School and received an AS degree from the American Academy of Embalming and Mortuary Research in New York City. He was a Funeral Director and Owner of Colasanto Funeral Home until retirement. He also worked at The Armory in New Preston for decades. Tom was known for his passion for marksmanship which was ignited at an early age by his father and grandfather who introduced him to target shooting and hunting. By the early 1960's he had amassed countless trophies and accolades for his precision sharp shooting. His skills continued to augur international, national, regional and local wins throughout his life. Tom held various positions in federal and local law enforcement agencies when his particular skill set was required which included being appointed a U.S. Marshal under the Nixon Administration performing mostly prisoner security/transportation and fugitive apprehension. As an NRA Certified Pistol Instructor he enjoyed teaching others, especially his children and grandchildren. Tom was a member of the Chase Rifle and Pistol Range, the NRA, and various rod and gun clubs throughout the state. Tom leaves his beloved wife Sandra (Johnson) one week before their 50th wedding anniversary. He leaves his children, Michael Colasanto and his wife Kristi of Harwinton, Amanda Hubbard and her husband Andrew of Litchfield, Rebecca Colasanto of Terryville, and Anne Marie Colasanto of Watertown. He leaves his Grandchildren; Nicholas, Christopher, and Alexander Colasanto, Ty Hubbard, Eva and Cole Pizzonia, Jayme Lush, and Joshua Acuna. He leaves his sisters, Teresa Noble of Waterbury and Emily Hollis of Arizona. He also leaves 4 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Thomas A.Colasanto. Tom leaves behind countless friends who will keep his spirit alive by remembering him and sharing stories for years to come. Tom was known to travel any distance for good food, a visit with a friend, or a gun. As one of his friends wrote, "If we measure a man's success by the number of friends he leaves behind, Tom was a Monumental Success". A time of remembrance has been scheduled for June 23, 2018 at 10am at The Terryville Congregational Church. Burial at Calvary Cemetery will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Simon Foundation, 120 Rescue Lane, Bloomfield, CT 06002 or Terryville Congregational Church, 233 Main Street, Terryville, CT 06786. Colasanto Funeral Home is entrusted with all arrangements.

Thanks for being a friend and giving me encouragement to work on my rifle building and shooting skills.
Working on an 03A4 this morning and thinking of the one you bought from me 45 years ago when I needed money of a house. Tom, you are the best.
