CORRIGAN, Thomas H.
The Honorable Thomas H. Corrigan, 84, of Wethersfield, CT, passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, (May 31, 2011.) He was born son to the late John and Margaret Corrigan on January 4, 1927, in Hartford, CT. He proudly served our country as an army medic in the Pacific during World War II. After returning home, Tom graduated from Holy Cross College in 1950. He continued his studies at Boston College, graduating in 1952, with a law degree. He was admitted to the CT Bar Association in 1952, set up a practice in Hartford, with two other partners. In 1954, Tom married Kathleen Finn. In 1955, he was elected to Hartford City Council and continued his dedicated service to the City of Hartford as a council member from 1955 to 1968, when he was appointed to the CT Court of Common Pleas. Tom continued his devoted service to the State of CT as a Circuit Court and later a Superior Court Judge until he became a Senior Judge and Referee until his retirement in 2010. Thomas Corrigan was an active and enthusiastic volunteer. He was a leader in the St. Augustine Boys' Brigade during the 1960's and 1970's, along with serving as president of the St. Augustine Home and School Association. In addition, he was a Minister of the Eucharist and Lector for St. Augustine Church. He was an avid golfer and UCONN fan. Above all his interests and accomplishments, Tom's greatest passion was his family. His children and grand children enjoyed many outings and adventures: hiking, biking, swimming, whale-watching, and mini golf. He never minded donning a helmet and going for a bike trek, playing with the kids in frigid ocean water, or tobogganing down Goodie Park hill. Half the time, he'd drag the smallest children back up the hill on the toboggan. He was a man of boundless energy. Tom will be fondly remembered by his loving wife of 57 years, Kathleen Therese Corrigan; six children, Mary-Ann Brady and her husband Joseph, Jack Corrigan and his wife Karen, Bill Corrigan and his wife Chris, Margaret Crawford and her husband Douglas, Kenneth Corrigan and his wife Rona, and Tom Corrigan and his fiancée Carla Bolin. In addition, he leaves 20 grandchildren, Erin, Jim, and Briana Brady; Quinn, Alex, and Kenny Corrigan; Kelsey, Carrie, and Colleen Corrigan; Dave McGrail and his wife, Lauren; Kate (McGrail) Murray and her husband, Hugh; John McGrail and his wife, Ashley, and William Crawford; Katie and Abby Corrigan; Sean, Matthew, and Kyle Corrigan; Grant and Kelsey Bolin; two adoring great-grandchildren, Macy and Delilah McGrail; two nieces, Margaret Orvis and Patty-Ann Churchville. Along with his parents, Tom is also predeceased by his sister, Theresa Churchville and her husband, Francis; his brothers, Monsignor John Corrigan and Kenneth Corrigan.
Funeral procession from the Farley Sullivan Funeral Home, 34 Beaver Rd, Wethersfield, will be Saturday, June 4, 2011 at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Tom's life at 10 a.m. in Corpus Christi Church, 601 Silas Deane Hwy, Wethersfield. My deepest sympathy in the loss of Tom. He was a partner of my father Bill for many years. I remember at my wedding introducing Tom to my new husband as Judge Corrigan. Tom would not hear of it and said "call me Tom." May he rest in peace.

Dear Kay & Family,
I've known Tom for many years. We grew up in the same neighborhood as children. I've had the pleasure of knowing both of you as an adult. We crossed paths many times. He and my late husband, Frank, were good friends. Tom was a kind, humble and compassionate person.
Another star is in heaven now.
My deepest sympathy,

Dear Mrs. Corrigan and Corrigan Family,
My father Tom Durkin was Judge Corrigan's first cousin. When I was growing up he would often tell me about how proud the entire clan was of Judge "Tommy" Corrigan. They didn't speak often, but my father would call Mr. Corrigan "Your Honor" until Mr. Corrigan insisted on being called "Tom". My condolences to your family.
