Thomas SHEA Obituary

SHEA, Thomas Daniel Thomas Daniel Shea of Sun City Center, FL, entered eternal sleep Wednesday (April 21, 2010). He was born March 8, 1945 in Southington, CT, to the late Harry and Erma Maria (Stohl) Shea. Tom was a resident of Southington and Wolcott, CT for 55 years prior to his retirement to Florida in 2000. For the past 30 years he was a loving and devoted husband to Ruth Acker Shea who blessed his life in many ways. Tom had a great work ethic and many talents. He had worked as an electrician, plumber, and machinist at Pratt and Whitney, and a truck driver for Cumberland Farms and J.R. Christoni Brothers. Upon moving to Florida, Tom became a member of the volunteer first responder group known as the SQUAD in Sun City Center. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle association, a hunter and a fisherman. He enjoyed the great outdoors and loved to spend time camping with his wife and family. Tom, his brother Charlie, his nephews and friends did a reenactment known as the rifle frolic "Burnt Toe, Frozen Toe". He was known as a prankster at times and could always put a smile on your face and make you laugh no matter what kind of day you were having. He will be missed by those who he met and those who loved him. Besides his wife Ruth , he is survived by two daughters, Jeanine Flammia and her husband David of Waterbury, CT, and Heather Shea of Manchester CT; two step-sons and their spouses, Dominic and Stacy Corso of Glastonbury, CT, and Kevin and Marisa Corso of Bristol, CT; eight grandchildren, Katie Flammia, David Flammia, Jr. , Sean Flammia, Nina Shea (Nina affectionately called her grandfather "Booba"), Sydney Corso, Dominic Corso, Gabriella Corso, and Madison Corso; three great grandchildren, Shannon, Sean Jr. and Tyler Flammia, and one great grandchild anticipated in August who will bear his name. Tom is also survived by his brother, Charles Shea of Southington, many nieces, nephews, dear friends, and his former spouse Marjorie Osgood Steinnagel. He was predeceased by his brothers Harry, Teddy, John and Robert. Family and friends will be received at Taylor & Modeen Funeral Home, 136 South Main Street, West Hartford, CT on Thursday, (April 29, 2010) from 4 – 7 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 7 p.m. Burial will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 2139 Silas Deane Highway, Rocky Hill, CT 06067-2339
