Timothy Luddy Obituary

Timothy F. Luddy, Sr., 83, of Newington, died peacefully in the comfort of his home, on Sunday, July 23, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Beverley (Dreher) Luddy for 60 years. Born and raised in Waterbury, he was the son of the late John and Margaret (Delaney) Luddy. Tim was a Newington resident since 1975 and was a dedicated member of St. Mary's Church, where he was a Eucharistic Minister, an adult altar server and a lector. He was also a trustee of St. Mary's Church, Chairman of the Finance Committee and volunteered his time for the church in many additional ways for the past 48 years. He was formerly employed by Waterbury Savings Bank, Burritt Mutual, Derby Savings Bank, Webster Bank, First City Bank, and retired from CBT. Tim was a member of the New Britain Jaycees and was a member and past president of the Newington Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club of Newington, where he was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow. He loved to golf with family and friends, especially at Indian Hill Country Club.

A loving and devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather, he leaves his son Timothy F. Luddy, Jr. and wife Kerry of Danbury; two daughters, Maureen Brummett and husband Gary of Southington, and Michele Smith and husband Robert of Windsor; grandchildren, Samuel Luddy and wife Anna, Margaret Luddy, Emma Ankenman and husband Greyson, Alexandra Schiffer, Lauren Schiffer, Zach "Buddy" Smith, and Kathryn Smith; and three great grandchildren, Olivia, Ford and Ember. He also leaves a sister Margaret "Meg" Luddy of Waterbury; a brother Dennis Luddy and wife Janet of Bedford, NH; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ronald Dreher and wife Louise of East Granby, Leah Dowling and husband Morgan of Waterbury; and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday, July 27, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Duksa Family Funeral Homes at Newington Memorial, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington. Tim's funeral service will begin on Friday, July 28, at 9:00 am at Newington Memorial, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Church. He will be laid to rest in West Meadow Cemetery, Newington. Memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's Church, 626 Willard Ave., Newington, CT 06111.
