Tito DiBenedetto Obituary

Tito A. DiBenedetto, beloved husband of Katherine (Holcomb) DiBenedetto, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2021 with his family by his side, just days short of his 81st birthday. Tito was born on July 22, 1940 in Hartford, Connecticut to Antonio and Mary (Cacciola) DiBenedetto; he attended St. Augustine school and graduated from Buckley High School. Tito met the love of his life, Kathy when they were both teenagers, and they married on November 26, 1960. The young couple moved to the Westfield section of Middletown, where they raised three children and continued to reside in their home for over 56 years. Tito liked sharp clothes, sitting in the sun, golfing, classic cars, a good meal with friends. Tito loved his children to whom he was a caring and generous Dad. He was a wonderful and giving "Pop" and Grandpa, proud to attend every school, sport, dance, chorus, and theatre performance, and especially thrilled to witness the recent wedding of grandson Tom and his bride, Amber. Above all else, Tito adored his wife Kathy, with whom he shared over 60 years of loving and committed marriage. A dedicated family man, Tito gave his all to his wife, children, and grandchildren, as well to as his extended family. Tito was proud to be a master electrician and member of IBEW Local 35 where he served on the E Board, and as President for several years. He had a long and accomplished career, overseeing many large-scale projects as general foreman, project manager, and CEO. He was also a life member of the BPO Elks Lodge 771 in Middletown. Tito was a communicant of St. Pius X Roman Catholic church, where he served as an Usher, and faithfully attended weekly mass with Kathy. Tito is survived by his devoted wife, Kathy, and their children Maria and husband Steve Weinberger, Tony and wife Laura DiBenedetto, and Loretta and husband Ronald Brown, Sr.; grandchildren Nichole DiBenedetto, Tom and wife Amber DiBenedetto, Mary Reinsch, and Timmy Reinsch. Tito also leaves his brother Charlie (Barbara) DiBenedetto, and brother-in-law George Fazzina, sisters-in-law Betty (Roy) Balthazard, Tricia (Dewey) Rice, Mary Vachon, Val Holcomb, Nancy (Kevin) Searles, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, sister Christine Fazzina, sister-in-law Laurie Holcomb, and brothers-in-law Bill and Bobby Holcomb. He will be remembered by countless friends and colleagues. The family extends its sincere thanks to the medical staff of St. Francis Hospital, Dr. Joel Silver and medical team; Hartford Healthcare Nurses Craig, John, and Heather, and compassionate hospice nurse Gina Sullo of Masonicare. His Funeral Liturgy will be held Friday (July 9th) at 10 a.m. at St. Pius X Church, Westfield St., Middletown. Burial will be at a later date. Friends may visit with his family at Biega Funeral Home, 3 Silver St., Middletown, on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital ([email protected]) or a charity of your choice in Tito's memory. I am truly sorry for your families loss . Tito was my 4th year teacher in my apprenticeship filling in for Nick when he was ill , he and I used to have many talks there . After that he was my supper attended at Baldwin Stewart , a true mentor as he often helped and guided my career there . Tito was one of the best men that I have ever had the pleasure to be associated with and he will certainly be missed by many . May he rest peacefully in heaven.

I am so thankful for Tito (and Kathy's) kind and thoughtfulness towards my Nana. Tito would pick up Nana for church and of course go to the Diner afterwards. Just before covid shutdown nursing homes, I sat with my grandmother, Tito, and Kathy for a visit with my grandmother at her nursing home and I remember thinking how sweet they are to take the time to visit her.
May Tito rest in peace and his family know they are in my prayers through this difficult time.
Peace and love , Nicole (Green) Lanzi

I'm so sorry to read of Tito's passing. As I would often walk the neighborhood I would stop and chat with Tito and Kathy sitting out on the driveway. I also learned from Tito that his sister, Christine was my English teacher at Wilson High School. May they rest in Peace!
