Troy McCalop Obituary

Troy L. McCalop Sr., 50, of Windsor, CT, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 12, 2021. Troy was born in Hartford, the son of Loretta McCalop-Betts and Clearence Underwood. Troy was educated through the Hartford Public School system and was a 1989 graduate of Bulkeley High School. "The gregarious Troy was known for his beautiful smile and his culinary skills. In short, he loved to make things. Troy was someone who was fiercely loyal to his family and friends and he spent his days crafting meals or anything you could imagine for their enjoyment. There were a few places you could find Troy on any given day - behind a grill or stove cooking up a tasty meal, or at the beach. He loved fishing and watching his favorite team, the "San Francisco 49'ers." Troy leaves to mourn his passing, four children, Troy L. McCalop Jr., Jada L. McCalop, Justin M. McCalop and Tocari L. McCalop; his grandson, Cameron L. McCalop; his twin sister, Tori Witchard and her husband Edward; his sister, Kim Underwood; his beloved aunt, Faye McCalop; his niece, Dasia McCalop; nephews, Ja'Quan Sullivan-McCalop and Darien Rodriguez; and many uncles, aunts, cousins, and lifetime friends. He was predeceased by his loving grandparents, James, and Odis McCalop; his uncle, Archie McCalop; and his cousin, John P. Rushing. His family will receive friends on Saturday, October 23, 4-5 p.m., with a Celebration of Troy's life at 5 p.m. at Carmon Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Avenue, Windsor. Entombed will be held at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Hartford at a later date. "There are no words to convey how his family and friends will forever miss him. May he Rest in "Eternal Peace."
