Valerie Leitao Obituary
Val was born in Hartford, CT to Albert D. LaVigne & Jean C. LaVigne on February 14th, 1955. She went to Penny High School in East Hartford and went on to graduate from Cosmetology School. In her early years, Val started her career as a cosmetology teacher, where she left a lasting impact on so many of her students. In addition, Val worked in many different industries in service of others, from her Family Restaurant and Bar, culminating with owning her own Children's Salon in Rocky Hill. None of this compares to her being a loving mom to her one and only daughter, Carley J. Leitao.
Val is preceded in death by Albert D. LaVigne and Jean C. LaVigne.
Val is survived by her daughter, Carley J. Leitao, son-in-law, Manuel A. Rodrigues and grandson, Oliver M. Rodrigues, life partner, George Fuchs, sister, Karen Mount and her husband Richard Mount, brother, Gene LaVigne, brother Albert D. LaVigne II and his wife Karen LaVigne, and 9 nieces and nephews.
The visitations will be from 3-6pm on Friday, January 6th, 2023 at Mulryan Funeral Home, 725 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury, CT. At 5:30pm, there will be an opportunity for sharing of memories of Val.
Funeral Services and Burial will be held at 10am on Saturday, January 7th, 2023 at Green Cemetery in Glastonbury.
In lieu of flowers, donations are requested by the family to Locks of Love (locksoflove.org/financial-donation/) in name of Val. For online condolences please visit www.mulryan.com.

Ted and I were saddened to hear about Valerie's unexpected passing. Valerie was such a kind and loving person. Some of my fondest memories of Valerie are of her being a loving, proud mother to Carley and loving grandmother to Oliver, and taking excellent care of her parents when they were unable to care for themselves. We know that Valerie is in Heaven surrounded by her parents and God's love.

Carly, I am heartbroken to hear about your mom. I adored her since the moment I met her as my instructor in hairdressing school and here I was honored to be her hairdresser 40 years later. I am so sorry for you and your family. You were the light of her life and she loved being a grandma to Oliver. I will miss her very much.
