Wanda M. Karpo

Wanda M. (Legowski) Karpo, 100, of Avon, beloved wife of the late Anthony Karpo, died Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at John Dempsey Hospital. She was born October 1, 1922 in Hartford, daughter of the late John and Mary (Pinicki) Legowski and had lived in Avon for over 70 years. She was a member of the Church of Saint Ann in Avon and the Avon Senior Center. Wanda loved to play Set Back and Bingo and was an avid watcher of the sport of golf.

She is survived by her two daughters, Marie Safcak and husband Thomas of Unionville and Shirley Goodchild of Canton; her sister, Marion LaPlante of Tallahassee, FL; her grandchildren, Ann Marie Safcak, Thomas Safcak, Jr. and wife Lynn, Denise Prokop and Steven Goodchild; her great grandchildren, Samuel and Angela Prokop and Madison Grundwalski and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, John and Edward Legowski and three sisters, Martha Holinka, Victoria Worth and Albina Robare.
