I would like to say "Thank You" to Dr Donovan for being such an understanding teacher when I was in a certain situation.

It seemed that I was doing great in his Essay tests for History 261 in 1990. I got a B , B then I got an "F" in the third test which was a multiple choice (which I am not good at anyway--have always prefered essays over multiple choices) and knowing that the final exam would be another multiple choice test. The lowest would be dropped and fearing that I might do bad on another multiple choice test..went to see him personally at his office and asked if I could take the final as an essay format instead of a multiple choice. Dr Donovan seeing my plight that I was good at Essays than multiple choice tests...said "sure you can take the final in an essay" of which I did but in his office rather than with the class. I passed with a nice "B" and I will always cheerish him for being such an understanding teacher for that. Now that is what you call a 'real teacher'

God Bless and I am sorry to hear of his passing.
