William Maloney Obituary

William Edward Maloney, 65, of Rocky Hill, CT, passed away on December 22nd, 2022, after a short illness.

William (or Bill as most people call him) was born on October 23rd, 1957, to Rita (Begin) and Edward Maloney in Hartford, CT. He grew up in Bloomfield and after graduating from Northwest Catholic High School in 1975, he attended The University of Hartford.

He got his first job in advertising for the Hartford Whalers. He loved this job as it combined his passion for marketing and sports. It was at this time that he met the love of his life, Susan Boyd. They were married in 1982 and would go on to have two children, Lauren and Derek.

Bill was a devoted father, husband, and friend. He would go out of his way to help others, especially those less fortunate than himself. He worked for 30+ years in car sales, advancing from salesman to general manager, until his retirement in 2020. When Bill wasn't working, he could be found golfing, cooking, or reading books.

Bill was predeceased by his father Edward. He is survived by his wife, Sue, his children Lauren and Derek, his grandson Maddox, his mother Rita Maloney, his sister Leanne Wyatt, sister Marita Occhineri and husband Peter Occhineri, sister Kathryn Folkes and husband Brian Folkes, as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family will hold a private memorial service for Bill at a later date.

The central ct automobile industry has lost one of its best.
I had the pleasure of meeting Bill in 1995 at Schaller Auto where I began my Automobile carreer nearly 30 years.
Bill was my boss, my mentor and my friend. He taught me things way back then I still carry in my hip pocket today.
Bill's direct involvement in a customer service issue ( Bill always truly cared about what " is right") actually lead to my marriage!
We will celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary this July ( God willing) and if Bill were not Bill that probably never happens. True story. He will be missed.
My heartfelt condolences. Mike coia

Sue and Family - I was saddened to learn of Bill's untimely passing! I grew up as a neighbor of Bill and then reconnected with him after moving to the same area in the same town where Bill had moved to years ago! I have many memories of playing backyard sports with Bill and he was a strong competitor then as he was in his sales career as an adult! I extend my deepest condolences to all who will miss Bill and hope that you can find peace in Bill being out of pain and physical ailments! May time preserve your fond memories of Bill and the good he brought to so many in his life!

Sue, Aunt Rita, Leanne, Marita, Katie and the rest of the Maloney family - I'm so very sorry for your loss. Kevin always made sure to talk with Bill anytime a car purchase was being considered. Even if he didn't actually sell us the car - he went above and beyond to make sure we had all the information we needed to make a good decision. My thoughts are with you---share memories and give lots of hugs.

Sue, Lauren, Derek, & Maddox...I´m so sorry for your loss. Both of us did get to share some time together well before he passed. He shared stories with me about my father who passed and I´m blessed we had that time together to reminisce even if brief. His memory will live on through you.

Sue, Lauren and Derek, and extended family, I'm so saddened to hear of Bill's passing, he was far too young. I remember him as a hard- working yet fun man with a twinkle and a smile ready at all times. Sue, you always had a different car in the driveway when I'd come over with the kids and we'd share some laughs. I'm so sincerely sorry for your loss. May God grant you peace.
