William Maura Obituary

It is with a heavy heart and profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and best friend William "Bill" Maura on Aprill 13th, 2019. Bill was born Dec. 27,1951 to Francis Maura Sr. and Elizabeth (Catanzaro) Maura. He is survived by his wife, Faith Maura of Plainville, his son, John Walsh of Bristol, his brother, Frances (Jimmy) Maura of Rocky Hill, his beloved dog Mack and the cats.Bill grew up in Wethersfield, CT and graduated high school from Wethersfield High School, class of 1969. He retired from LIMRA in Windsor in January of 2018. His love for people and passion for technology carried him proudly through his 47 year career from the mail room to vice president.Outside of family and work, his biggest passions were The Beatles, Volkswagens and the Red Sox! Bill's fondest moments were picnics or dinners out with family and close friends, Red Sox games with his wife or son and family road trips often camping in one of his beloved VWs, either his Westfalia or Herbbie, his beloved 1967 sunroof Beetle always blasting The Beatles or the live Sox games on 1080AM radio.Everyone who's ever met Bill has been touched by his ability to listen, his unique ability to think outside of the box troubleshooting anything and pure compassion that could help heal anything anyone was going through.Calling hours will be held on Thursday, April 18th from 2-4:30pm at 444 Farmington Ave, New Britain, CT at the New Britain Memorial-Sagarino Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Bill's name to Protectors of Animals, 144 Main St. Unit O, East Hartford, CT. 06118

Billy Maura was truly a wonderful person as well as a fantastic professional. He always had the most positive attitude and was forever willing to help his LIMRA Associates in any of their activities.

I truly enjoyed his Love Of The Beatles and his VW inclinations. It was always a pleasure to see he and Faye at LIMRA and at many conferences.

Faye & John
We have all lost one of the great ones, but we were graced by his love and friendship. Our friendship with Bill traces over 40 years and the stories and memories he gave us will live in our hearts forever. Although our hearts are broken with this loss, we believe that one day we will all be together again.
In the meantime Bill, keep playing those great Beatle tunes, riding the skyways in Heaven in all of your favorite VWs and we will meet you again our beautiful friend, further on up the road.
Sending Faye & John our deepest sympathy and asking God to hold you both close.
In friendship & sympathy,

Marci Leclair

Faye and John, you know how kind, understanding and compassionate Bill was throughout his life. Those of us who got to work, travel and be in his company, will never forget his wit, kindness and sometimes "silliness" that lighten the day. San Diego stories about your aunt Ruth will be high on the list. Bill's legacy will continue on through all the individuals he touched. May he rest in peace and guide us all.

Faye and John,

My heart goes out to you both. Bill was a great guy with such quick wit. I remember seeing him running through the halls on Sigourney Street when the basement level flooded, yelling "Save the AIB! Save the AIB!" (paper version of what is now called Career Profile) He would tell the best stories of our neighbors on Sigourney St. He would have everyone in stitches. Bill would come into work saying "Easy Day, Easy Day". He will be missed. My thoughts and prayers to you and your family.

We will miss you.

"Compassion that could help heal". Bill and Faye were helping me out one evening after I had broken my arm. Not only did they bring me dinner, but this particular memory will stay with me forever. Faye also delivered an ice cream bar. Bill had said that ice cream can fix anything. As much pain as I was in at that particular time...a smile came over my face. Even though I didn't know him as well as his family and close friends, the compassion and understanding he had was a gift. There aren't too many people I know with both qualities. So sorry for your loss. I know you will miss him very much. He was a very funny, upbeat, positive person who touched lives. You will be missed Bill. And Lucy will miss her play dates when you and Faye would take care of her. R.I.P. with no more suffering.
