William Wondriska Obituary

William C. Wondriska, 100, of West Hartford, beloved father of William A. Wondriska, passed away, peacefully, in his sleep Monday (June 17, 2002). Born May 6, 1902 in Chicago, IL, he grew up on the City's west side. His father, Charles N. Wondriska formed a transportation company in the late 19th century. It grew to six wagons and twelve horses, but his son did not enter his father's business. Instead, he went to work for his uncle, who taught him the jewelry trade. He was a jewelry repair technician at the Marshall Field headquarters store on State and Randold Streets in downtown Chicago. He retired in 1972, and with his wife Ruth, moved to West Hartford in 1978 to be near their son, Bill. He and his wife were active members of the West Hartford United Methodist Church and also long-time members of the West Hartford Senior Center. He is survived by his son; three granddaughters and five great grandchildren. There will be a private service and burial in West Hartford. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the West Hartford United Methodist Church, 1358 New Britain Avenue, West Hartford, CT 06110. Taylor & Modeen Funeral Home has care of arrangements.
