Yvonne Armstrong Obituary

Yvonne (Brown) Armstrong, 58, a native of Nashville, TN, long time CT resident, and wife of Ronald L. Armstrong, passed away on Thursday, (February 20, 2003) at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown. Born in Atlanta, GA, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Genevis (Hardy) Brown. She attended Fisk University in Nashville, TN and had been a loyal CT employee of the U. S. Postal Service for over 20 years. She was involved with Center City Churches, Stowe Village Community Center and Central Baptist Community programs in Hartford, and the after-school program in Middletown. Mrs. Armstrong is most remembered for infinite love and devotion to the nurturing family environment that she and her husband created. Her love of life and creative abilities were expressed through her culinary and gardening talents as well as interior decorating. Among her favorite memories were of the annual family vacations to Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard and the birth of her two granddaughters ages three and two. Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Tiffany Armstrong of Chicago, IL, and Sacha (Armstrong) Crockett and her husband Rodney of Glastonbury; and two granddaughters, Iyanna and Kiara. Memorial services will be held at the Doolittle Funeral Home, 14 Old Church St., Middletown, Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m. The Rev. David Minnick will officiate and interment will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.
