Mac Johnson, 94, of Hattiesburg, died March 23, 2015, at Wesley Medical Center. There will be a gathering of friends on Sunday, March 29, 2015, at the Hattiesburg Country Club located at 61 Classic Drive.

Mrs. Johnson graduated from Mary Washington College with a degree in Physical Education. She was co-owner of Johnson Music, now Mississippi Music, Inc. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, the Hattiesburg Junior Auxiliary, HCC Ladies Golf Association and was a volunteer (Candy Striper) at Forrest General Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Johnson.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Dex and Rosi Johnson, Bix and Sherry Johnson all of Hattiesburg; two grandchildren, Ashley Johnson Walker and her husband, Nathan, of Hattiesburg, Brooke Alpin and her husband, John of Alpharetta, Georgia; two great-grandchildren, Canyon and Marek Aplin; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

The family wishes to extend its sincerest thanks to the staff at Wesley Medical Center especially the nurses on the cardiac floor and Dr. Mohammed Awaad for their compassion and professionalism during this difficult time. Despite her age, Mac, aka Mammy, maintained her love of life, love of family and friends and her witty sense of humor until the very end. She overcame all obstacles and challenges head on and will be dearly missed by all.
