Mary Hunt Obituary

Mary Lou Hunt passed away on October 31, 2025, at the age of 88.

Born on May 9, 1937, Lou lived life entirely on her own terms. Fiercely independent, determined, and unapologetically stubborn, she approached every challenge and opportunity with boldness and conviction. Whether racing cars at Lions Drag Strip in Long Beach, dominating a racquetball court, singing karaoke, creating costumes, or playing golf, Lou was a competitor through and through, never one to back down or blend in.

She was also an exceptionally talented artist and sculptor. Among her proudest accomplishments are the life-size bronze sculptures of Robert McCulloch and C.V. Wood that stand on the London Bridge in Lake Havasu City, and the bronze of Don Laughlin at the entrance to Laughlin, Nevada, works that have become lasting landmarks of the desert Southwest.

Lou moved to Lake Havasu City in 1991, where she continued to pursue her artistic passions and live as she always had: by her own rules.

She loved the idea of marriage, and was married six times.

She is survived by her children Steven Balcom and Cynthia Aldridge (Jerry); grandchildren Alicia Hesterly and Nicholas Giuliani (Melanie); and great-granddaughter Scarlett Hesterly.

My heart is broken at the loss of my dear friend, Lou. She was one of the closest friends I have ever had and was always there for me. I loved her dearly and her loss impacts all who knew her. Rest in peace my friend. You lived your life to the fullest and will be remembered always in my heart.
