Richard Cossette Obituary

Richard "Sandy" Cossette, born on January 26, 1940, in Los Angeles County, California, passed away peacefully on Oct. 18, 2024, in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. He was a dedicated family man who married the love of his life, Bonnie Jean McDowll, in 1958. He was a proud U.S. Navy veteran who served from 1957 to 1961. Sandy was known for his warm heart and infectious spirit.
He spent his professional life in the roofing business, where he earned the respect of his colleagues and clients alike. He found joy in simple pleasures, often seen tinkering in his garage or sharing laughter with his daughters, grandchildren, and friends. His favorite moments were spent in the company of his family. Laughing, storytelling, and enjoying good food. Usually accompanied by the cheerful tunes of the Jive Bunnys.
He is survived by his three daughters: Renee (married to Ted Villelli, who passed away in 2010), Colette (married to Brian Bradner), and Nicole (married to Dan Kuch). Sandy cherished his role as a father and later as a grandfather, also known as The World's Greatest Papa. He also spoke so proudly, taking great pride in his grandchildren: Paul Villelli and his wife Ashley, Jill Villelli and her Husband Hammie, along with their Daughter Bonnie; Briana Fortson (Bradner) and her husband Josh, and Jeff Bradner along with his two sons Traeh and Devin; and Evan and Emerson Kuch. Sandy was especially proud of Paul, Briana, and Evan for their decisions to join the United States Navy. He was also pleased to welcome great-grandchildren into the family.
Sandy leaves behind his sister, Carole Riggin, and many loved cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He also leaves a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. He often reminded his family with his favorite saying, "This too shall pass," a testament to his optimistic outlook on life. Sandy's favorite place in the world was anywhere his family gathered with laughter around him, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
