Emma Parrish Biever, 90

Emma Parrish Biever, age 90, passed away at her home on Saturday, May 17, 2025. After surviving past years of stomach and breast cancer, Emma passed away after an eight-month struggle with gallbladder cancer. She was born on April 5, 1935, in Monterey, Ky. to the late Alford and Mary Frances Sams. Emma has lived in Owen, Henry and Franklin Counties. She was a member of Graefenburg Christian Church.
Emma enjoyed having summer family and friend's reunions, where she loved to cook and prepare her favorite recipes. Her favorite hobbies were sewing handmade quilts, collecting antique furniture, blue glassware and many, many chicken and rooster figurines. She lived in Bridgeport and loved to work in her yard, pulling weeds and planting beautiful, colorful flowers. Emma also enjoyed sitting on her front porch swing and waving at people driving down Evergreen Road.
Emma is survived by her daughter, Mary Joyce Kelly; grandson, Christopher Parrish Kelly; great-granddaughter, Breanna Nicole Sandford; brother, Louis "Red" (Lorena) Sams; sisters-in-law, Thelma Parrish and Iva Sams; many nieces and nephews; her good friend, Jerri Gunn, her beloved 18-year-old dog, Elly and her cat, Mr. Ted.
Emma is preceded in death by her husbands, Richard "Red" Parrish and Theodore Biever; granddaughter, Sarah Kelly Austin; and four brothers and three sisters.
Emma's family would like to thank Bluegrass Care Navigators family of nurses, especially Yvette, with her devoted care and visits.
Emma had requested cremation with no services. Sometime later a private graveside service will take place where her ashes will be buried at Pleasureville Cemetery.
