SUSAN BASGALL 11/23/1953 - 9/15/2025 Susan Kay "Sue" Basgall, 71, passed away on September 15, 2025 her home in La Crosse, KS. Sue was born on November 23, 1953 in Hays, KS to parents La Verne C. and Louise (Pfannenstiel) Dechant. Sue worked as a School Clerk. She was a woman of faith. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Liebenthal, Kansas. Sue was a devoted mother and grandmother whose love and warmth filled the lives of all who knew her. She had a heart as big as her smile and found her greatest joy in her family. As a grandmother, she poured endless love into her grandchildren, always making sure her freezer was stocked with ice cream for their visits and her home filled with laughter. Sue journeyed through life with courage and the purest love, finding joy in the ride, peace beneath the stars, and pride in the family she cherished. We will forever carry her love with us all. She was preceded in death by her father: La Verne Dechant; and husband: Michael D. 'Mike' Basgall. Sue is survived her mother: Louise A. Dechant; sons, Aaron Basgall (Mary), Hutchinson, Kansas, and Christopher Basgall of Colorado Springs, Colorado; grandchildren, Tyra, Trinity, David (Natalie), Brooklyn, and Isabella; great grandchildren, Landon, Luca, and Blake; brothers: Rick Dechant (Stephanie) of Hays, Kansas, Dave Dechant of La Crosse, Kansas, and Brian Dechant (Jyl); and many nieces and nephews. Friends and family were received at visitation Thursday, September 18, 2025 from 4pm to 7pm at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 202 Main St, Liebenthal, Kansas. A Rosary and vigil service followed from 7pm to 8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, September 19, 2025, 10:00am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Liebenthal, KS. Burial followed at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Liebenthal, KS. Memorials may be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church Heritage Foundation.
