James Nigg Obituary

James "Shorty" Nigg, 82, of Helena, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 12, 2008.

James was born April 2, 1926, to Felix and Theresa Nigg in Sisseton, S.D.

James served our country honorably in the United States Army from 1944 to 1950, and then the United States Air Force from 1950 to 1953.

James married Donna Hormann on Sept. 5, 1953, in Sisseton, and they enjoyed 55 years of marriage. James retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1977. He was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post 3342 in Sisseton.

James is survived by his wife, Donna of Helena; daughters, Debbie (Neil) Self, Paulette (Dale) DeHart, Corliss Nigg and Peggy (Edward) Kerins; grandchildren, Tory Wiseman, James and Josef DeHart and Hallie, Alec, and Brenna Kerins, all of Helena. He is also survived by one sister, Elaine of Pever, S.D., as well as many nieces and nephews.

James is preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Theresa Nigg; four brothers; and two sisters.

James will be dearly missed by his wife, children and grandchildren.

A graveside service with military honors is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, April 25, at the Montana State Veterans Cemetery at Fort Harrison. A reception for family and friends will be held at the home of Peggy and Edward Kerins following the burial. Memorials in James's name are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.

Shorty's passing I have not seen him in years I was vary small back home in Sisseton. So you now who I am My mother is Marvel Nigg Fonder My father was Floyd they often spoke of Shorty All ways good. He will be mist in the family. My prayers and thoughts are with you at this time please take care.

I have so many happy memories of my Uncle Shorty from when we lived in Sisseton. I even remember when he came to visit in San Pablo, California in the early 50's. He was a wonderful man with a great sense of humor. I will miss him.
