Kevin Millhouse Obituary
Kevin John Millhouse, age 60, passed away peacefully and surrounded by love on August 5, 2025, at University of Utah Hospital following a long and hard-fought illness.
Kevin was born on September 24, 1964, in Missoula, MT to Katherine (Hayes) and Donald Millhouse. He was the third son and slightly older brother of their only sister, Kimberly, who his family lovingly called his twin. His brothers, Donald "Glenn" and Stephen T. considered it their brotherly duty to teach him how to hunt, fish, hike the trails surrounding their family cabin in the mountains in Fish Creek near Lolo Hot Springs. Being the Police Chief's son made it somewhat difficult to get away with his mischievous shenanigans, but Kevin was always up for a challenge.
Kevin attended Washington Elementary/Middle School and went on to attend Sentinel High School, class of 1983, in Missoula. Kevin joined the Montana Army National Guard in 1982 in Artillery where he proudly earned an Army Commendation Medal. He retired 20 years later in 2002 as a Crew Chief in Aviation. Kevin also worked various jobs until landing a job with the Montana Department of Transportation in 1992 driving snowplow on MacDonald Pass, and he eventually worked his way up to the Superintendent position. He worked for MDT for 25 years, until his retirement in 2017 due to health issues.
In September of 2000, Kevin met his soul mate and best friend, Karmen Griffiths, when he first saw her listening to a band at a local bar and asked her to dance. From that moment, he knew she was the one. They dated exclusively for the next 14 years and married on December 13, 2014 (12-13-14), which Kevin claimed was a date he'd never forget. Kevin and Karmen shared a deep love of animals, which resulted in the adoption of many dogs and cats throughout their 25 years together. They also loved to travel and spend time with family and friends, where Kevin was often the comedian entertaining the group. He loved to make people laugh.
Kevin was a Boston sports fan, from the Red Sox, Celtics, and especially the New England Patriots. He loved football and was the Patriots number one fan from the age of 7. He was especially proud during the Tom Brady glory days and even got a tattoo of the Patriots logo surrounded by six stars, one for each Super Bowl win. Kevin also loved the University of Montana Grizzlies, and he and Karmen spent many Saturdays cheering on the Griz in Missoula. Kevin loved to cook and come up with new recipes. He enjoyed watching cooking shows and decided to start his own version of "Chopped" with friends and family. If he was one of the contestants, he would undoubtedly win with his delicious creations.
Kevin was incredibly thoughtful and generous. One Christmas, he came up with the idea that instead of getting gifts for each other, he and Karmen would buy a truckload of dog and cat food for the local Humane Society. The next year followed suit, and they purchased robes and slippers for the residents at the local nursing homes. Kevin always had a "pay it forward" mindset. He was the kind of person that would do everything he could to help his friends and family, even if that meant giving them his last dime.
Kevin was preceded in death by his parents, Donald & Kathy Millhouse; his aunt, Elizabeth "Betty" Stinchfield; his father & mother-in-law, Lyle and Judy Griffiths; brothers-in-law, Ken McElhenney and Kris Griffiths; sister-in-law, Marie Barnes; and niece, Rachel Millhouse. We know he's now pain-free in Heaven, surrounded by loved ones, including former pets.
Kevin is survived by his loving wife, Karmen; siblings Glenn Millhouse, Stephen Millhouse, and Kimberly (Jeff) Alley; sisters-in-law, Deb (Larry) Redmond, Cindy Griffiths, and Kim Hamm; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces/nephews, cousins, friends, and his furry companions Shadow, Cooper, Porch Kitty, and Snickers. He was one in a million and will be missed by all that had the honor of knowing him.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, 9/24/25, at the Montana Veteran's Cemetery Fort Harrison at 12:00 p.m. with a luncheon to follow at the VFW Post 10010 in East Helena. We found it fitting to celebrate Kevin's life on the 61st anniversary of his birth. Please come share your stories and memories of Kevin.
