Susan Keeting Obituary

Susan Irene Keeting, age 67, of Helena, Montana, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2025, in Topeka, Kansas.

Born on March 9, 1958, in Moberly, Missouri, Susan was the daughter of Lee Anthon Keeting and Betty Irene (Figgins) Deitrich. She graduated from Santa Fe Trail High School, Class of 1976, and later moved to Helena, Montana in 1982, where she built a life that she cherished for over four decades.

Susan dedicated her career to public service, working as a Computer Systems Analyst for the State of Montana until her retirement at the age of 60.

She is survived by her daughter: Melissa Snethen, and her family of Topeka, Kansas; siblings: Mike (Brenda) Keeting of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Debbie (Aaron) Howey of Carbondale, Kansas, Lesa (Scott) Hite of Carbondale, Kansas, Amy (Thad) Wellshear of Topeka, Kansas; and eleven nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Bill Deitrich; grandfather, George Lambert; brother, Gerald Keeting; grandmother, Maggie Lambert; father, Lee Keeting; and mother, Betty Deitrich.

In Susan's younger years, she enjoyed snow skiing, hiking, and was a skilled billiards player. She loved the Montana mountains, reading, the Kansas City Chiefs, and giving back to her community. She will always be known for her quiet strength and independence.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made in Susan's name to Helena Food Share, Helena, Montana; St. Peter's Health Hospice, Helena, Montana; and Midland Hospice, Topeka, Kansas.

What a great pool player, you will be missed

I was saddened to read about Susan's passing. My deepest condolences to the Keeting family. I knew Susan from playing in the many pool leagues here in Helena back in the day. She was definitely a formidable foe and a fierce competitor. I remember her always having a little Teddy Bear (for good luck), sitting in a chair, watching her while she played. She was a very polite and beautiful young lady. My Dad and I were just talking about Susan, maybe a week ago, reminiscing about some of the matches we played with her. Life goes so fast but I'm sure Susan accomplished every goal she set out to do. Rest in peace, Susan.
